According to the Supersport website, SARU have confirmed to them that the South African Institute for Drug Free Sport have informed them that 2 South African players from different provinces have tested positive for banned substances.
The names of the players, who were informed of the results through their respective unions, are known to Supersport, but have not been named in order to protect the players concerned until the matter is concluded.
SARU reiterated that the normal protocols for this type of offence were now continuing, and that the players involved now have the option of requesting that either their “B” sample be tested or pleading guilty.
Any player found guilty of using banned substances faces a ban of between 2 & 4 years.
AGAIN?
When is Rugby going to get serious about this issue?
Chilliboy Ralapele has been found out twice, with the first offence being swept under the carpet by SARU, and the second offence, (in France?) resulting in a 2 year ban.
He now plays for the Sharks, so where is the justice?
It is also known that doping is commonplace in certain schools, and yet the practice continues unabated.
Once again the Rugby authorities have failed to take the steps needed.
