The bidding process formally kicked off on 14 May 2015. World Rugby held a meeting with five potential Rugby World Cup 2023 hosts on 6 May 2015.
The 2015 events is past tense. SA is a confirmed bidder. The May 2016 event is relevant but will not be influenced by the ban.
The June 2016 becomes like D-day. As I understand the process SA cannot unconditionally confirm their bid. Maybe I am wrong.

Hi dWeePer thanks for that time table was wondering when they said they would have a look at things next year again or something like that if it would be too late to bid anyway, so unless I have not understood the communication of things or there is a major U-turn can’t see SA being in the running for World Cup 2023.

Wonder if it’s best following these announcements if SA just pulls out of the running for World Cup 2023 as who knows what damage has been done to the bid chances in the eyes of those who have to decide, not that I would expect anyone to openly come out and say it is because of the last few days events that they have decided to award the hosting of it to someone else but you know what I mean. May be best to save the money that would be spent, possibly for nothing, on the whole bidding process and use it for the players benefit. All the lobbying, promotional material that needs to be made, travel by the various officials etc will all mount up in costs.
