Hi provincefan no worries there, know what it’s like when I try post from my mobile. It sounds like you know a thing or two about front row play, are you or have you been a member of the front row union? Think it must be very hard for refs to really know what is going on there sometimes especially as the teams are always trying their luck to get one over their opponents, have often thought they could have former test props in the TMO box to ‘coach’ the ref through the scrums to help them make sure they are penalizing the correct teams. Although the one thing which cannot be excused is the blatant skew throw ins by the scrumhalves, it happens so often so either blow it or if they won’t then change the laws and say you can do it and just get on with the rest of the scrum process. I have seen a few scrums where the ball has been rolled in straight and it has either popped straight out the other side or just sat there in the middle for a while as it seems hookers have lost the art of striking for the ball as it rolls in.
