The Samsung R519 was in it’s time quite an entry level Notebook… but good…
Samsung has pulled all their Notebooks off the open market here in SA, rather concentrating on all their Tablets, Mobile Devices, Galaxy Phones… ect.
So, I cannot compare anything Samsung for you…
BUT there are some good new entry level products available…
1. Lenovo (previously known as IBM -or rather sold by Lenovo under licence from IBM);
2. The basic Acer Notebooks – not bad value for the price Acer is offered for;
3. Asus;
4. MSI (One of the world’s largest motherboard manufacturers who also dabble in complete systems);
5. Gigabyte (My personal favourite, also one of the world’s largest motherboard manufacturers who also dabble in complete systems);
Whatever you do, don’t buy a Toshiba or HP Compaq (HP is the make with the highest return under warrantee… about freegin a full 25% go back).
I would not buy Dell… unless you get a hell of a bargain… they are fantastic machines but replacement parts, once out of warrantee, is very expensive…
Don’t even think about Sony… expensive shit.
There are many makes actually… so go look at the options, write down some names and model numbers and ask me here on the blog to look at your shortlist…
Important… one needs enough RAM (processing memory)… and there are various ways to get around the unfriendly Menu Systems of Windows 8.1 and Windows 10…. to make it look exactly like Windows 7 again… for someone like you.
Important, it needs to have the 64-Bit version of the actual Operating System and not the 32-Bit version of the Operating System. 64-Bit Systems handle RAM better and that is just the new efficient way to go…
There you have it, a mouth full!
@ grootblousmile:
That is a great summary, thanks I will have a look. Your last recommendation was really spot on.
Happy Days 🙂
OK folks, I am outa here… till the Jaguares game… need to go force a few Sletsappies down the gullet… and relax a bit with friends….

Yeah… by now you know I know EXACTLY what I am talking about when it comes to computers and stuff… hahaha
Tjorts!
It’s long finished but congratulations Ireland on the win beating us by 10 points. 35/25 the score in the end. 4 tries to Ireland 3 to Scotland. Heaslip man of the match but CJ must have been close.
Anthem time in Paris
Eddie’s England: Triple Crown, Grand Slam and 6 Nations winners will be the headlines tomorrow but don’t be fooled, there are various factors not just Judas Jones that England will have managed the achievement.
France 3/0 England 4th minute but a kickable penalty now for England.
