I don’t really want to watch it….. i dunno if I’ll see complacency at its worst or the underdog (not even that really..a team with no hope of winning) play out of their skins…scary

    @ Te Rangatira:
TR, it’s well worth a watch.
Japan was just fantastic and deserved their win.
They even shunned the chance for a draw to get the win.

Boks are a laughing stock at the moment, the writing has been on the wall for some time now, but that shouldn’t detract from the manner Japan played

It is really worth watching, like Nortie says, Japan was magnificent.

Hi Nortie. .yep.the writing has been on the wall…

    @ Te Rangatira:
Will be rooting for your boys from here on in, we seem destined to be on the first plane home.

Hope your boys learn from this loss, you got to be switched on for every game

Maybe this is a Catharsis moment for the Springboks…

    Hoping, hoping, hoping!

They will have toplay out of their skins during the rest of the competition… and the guts, passion and need for glory needs to return… in spades!

    @ grootblousmile:
Do we really have the personnel though?

HM has hinged his bets on his elder players, whether fully fit or not, but will they be up to it?

A loss against a second tier side is not something any of us, or them, would ever have contemplated, and the opposition (bar America) will only be getting tougher

  • 338

    337 @ nortie:
Yeah well, what can we do but support our side?

  • 339

    @ grootblousmile:
Nothing, but harsh questions may be asked.

    And they will be asked.

  • 340

    339 @ nortie:
They need to be asked, yes…

From Heyneke Meyer… and BY Heyneke Meyer to the players!

  • 341

    @ grootblousmile:
I wonder if Jean will do the honorable thing and step down?

  • 342

    341 @ nortie:
He should not have been in the squad in the 1st place!

  • 343

    @ grootblousmile:
Yes, but he isn’t the only one

  • 344

    343 @ nortie:
Coenie die Boef, Ruan Pienaar, JP Pietersen… at least, should not have been there either.

  • 345

    @ grootblousmile:
Yep, throw in Sicknote Alberts as well

Japanese players were just more skilful. Tackled lower, handled better, tactically better and also more committed. They won the battle at the breakdown and there backline had more penetration.

There were three four incidents that shifted the game. First was the poor line kick by Lambie at the start of the second half. Second was the shoulder charge by Coenie Oortreezen (note the Spelling; purposely done). Those two incidents brought Japan into the game at crucial stages. Third was the yellow card by Coenie Oortreesen. Fourth was the two poor kicks by Pollard and FdP late in the second half when we were under pressure. Japan is on the attack, we get the ball and kick it back to them. That summarises rugby under HM. Right after the second kick I said to my wife we will loose this and we deserve too loose it.

Rugby has changed. It’s not about size anymore; it’s about skill. SA rugby is falling away because we don’t want to get the message. Smaller players are better on the floor, they handle better, are faster on their feet and better at putting players in the gaps. They also excute planned moves better. All of the above are however not part of the SA rugby mindset.

Ok so your have 3 fantastic lineout forwards and a bigger pack. Why would you not be kicking deep for the corners and challenging all their lineout balls.
Pollard should have been on the field and kicking long deep kicks pushing them down into their 22
Boks need to power over them with forwards instead of playing their fast and furious style
    HM F@#ked up
And having some older uses less players did not help
Pienaar is still useless and will continue to be useless

  • 353

A few of us have been saying for a while now that Meyer is a lemon.

  • 354

    @ NZINCHINA:
This was clear proof he is a dumb coach End of story.
All I saw was locks and props in the midfield with the centers, With the slow kak service from Pienaar they were not going anywhere.
Push the ball deep into corners and attack their lineouts and drive them over the line all the time.

I didnt see the incident, but if its true that matfield told pollard to kick for goal and not jean then we are fuckt… That kind of thing destroyed the bulls spirit this year. He wants to be the coach, captain and manager.

  • 356

Hopefully samoa can put our headless chicken flyhalf schalk burger in his place… Also pulling thr same crap he did with the stormers this year.

  • 357

We are lucky we are not Pakistan.. Pr else…

  • 358

    @ CoachPete:

Hi Coach, I hope your daughter is still well on the road to recovery, he should be sacked after this world cup as he has achieved nothing over the past 4 years while in charge.

  • 359

Where all those buggers from 5 years back!

New delicacy on the Japanese menu ‘springbok teriyaki!’

Even if the boks win the RWC this will be remembered forever!

    What a game!

    And guess what?

The sun has risen this morning. OK, it may be behind thick cloud which may impede my tee off, but it has risen.

    Life goes on.

The loss is not a national disaster. There ARE more pressing things to worry about.

HM will pick another team for the Samoa game, the ref’ will make some bad decisions, and the ball will bounce unfairly for someone.

That’s life. Get on with it.

FFS we could all be in a leaking, overcrowded boat in the middle of a storm halfway across the med’.

    WELL DONE THE BRAVE BLOSSOMS.

Eddie Jones had our number. He’s astute and our management and aren’t. End of story.
