Lock Francois Uys will lead the Toyota Free State Cheetahs against the Steval Pumas in Nelspruit on Saturday.
The former Xerox Golden Lions player will take over the captaincy from centre Francois Venter – he led the team in their defeat against the Xerox Golden Lions last week.
Uys’s return means that Reniel Hugo will move to No 4 and Freddy Ngoza moves on to the bench.
The Free Sate Cheetahs are placed 4th on the Currie Cup log and will be looking to end the Pumas challenge for a semifinal spot.
Ryno Benjamin will replace Tertius Kruger at centre, while Ruan van Rensburg drops down to the bench.
Raymond Rhule will replace last weeks late replacement, Maphutha Dolo, at left wing.
Zee Mkabela drops out of the squad and Shaun Venter will replace him at scrumhalf, with Neil Marais taking his place on the bench.
De Wet Kruger replaces Neill Jordaan at No 8.
Adriaan van der Berg Coertzen will replace flyhalf Fred Zeilinga on the bench.
