The Waratahs and Australian Rugby Union (ARU) have announced the re-signing of Kurtley Beale on a contract that will see him in Australia for at least a further 2 years, until the end of 2017.

Waratahs Head Coach Daryl Gibson said Beale’s commitment to the side for 2 more seasons would continue his significant contribution to the legacy of the club.

“Kurtley has played some of his best football for the Waratahs, and I am confident we will see his game continue to progress in the seasons to come,” Gibson said.

“His role in the team is evolving, and we are seeing his development as a player on and off the field grow and become more significant.

“Kurtley’s experience as an international rugby player will provide great guidance to our incoming group of young players, and it will be vital to have someone of his calibre amongst them in training and on the field.”

Beale, who has earned 115 Super Rugby caps in his career, 101 of which have been with the Waratahs, since his debut with his home state in 2007 against the Lions in Johannesburg.

Fittingly, he earned his 100th state cap against the same team in Round 16 of the 2015 Super Rugby season.

After joining the Melbourne Rebels in 2012, Beale returned to the Waratahs in 2014 and enjoyed immediate success as the side earned its 1st Super Rugby title in the same year.

His season in 2015 was remarkable, notching several club records in the 15 matches he played before injury ended his season, including becoming the 9th-most NSW caps in club history, the 4th most points (423), 7th-most Super Rugby tries (21), and the 5th highest number of penalty goals kicked (63).
