178 @ NZINCHINA:
Nothing wrong with your memory mate, and remember he was made coach “for reasons other than rugby”.
Pah!
@ nortie:
Nortie I can’t agree that it’s ours to lose, the Aussies rolled us away 7 days ago and it took 75 mins to subdue the Bokke away so whlst we have a good chance surely we aren’t screaming favourites, the Irish are also a good bet. Groot will write a novel in response to my post but Meyer has failed, no trophies in 4 seasons and 1 from 7 against their greatest rivals – if he coached the Ab’s he would have been shown the door by now.
@ BrumbiesBoy:
His record was pretty good, at least he actually won somthing. In my book even if Meyer wins the WC he’s still failed, 4 years of nothing.
182 @ NZINCHINA:
NZ’s expectations are higher than ours….we seem content to compete well.
Losing to the Ab’s while showing character is good enough
@ nortie:
We know that’s not true but giving Meyer a contract extension seems crazy, he’s had his go and failed – next please.
180/183-185: NZINCHINA, as you can see, at least not everyone is unhappy in South Africa about the Argies win. Especially the southern part of our divided country, with Newlands as their capital, are very happy and enjoy it very much that Meyer failed.
It is the character of our politically divided nation, we cannot wait for someone to fail, to cover our own failures. If apartheid is not the dead horse scapegoat to blame, then the bok coach will be next in line.
No wonder we do not have any AB tests at Newlands anymore, 1 home game against you champs are more than enough for our Saffas to handle here in SA, we do not need another home game for your at Newlands. 😯
I really enjoyed Divvie’s time as the boks ‘coach’, he really entertained us all, our Leon Schuster of rugby, while his support team and the senior players coached the team to glory in the RC, against the BIL and winning against the AB in NZ.
Me thinks a politically motivated ANC-Cosatu coach will be the best for the Bokke in the future, bring in the Cosatu leader as bok manager, but with the clause that the support coaching team must be the best, and the senior players part of that team that worries about winning.
It worked in the Snorre era, it could work again.
