Pat Lambie

Just a couple of days after being declared fully fit and available for the Springboks, Pat Lambie was back in hospital.

Fortunately for Lambie, the news this time around was nowhere near as serious as the neck injury that ruled him out of the remainder of Super Rugby in April.

Still, Lambie was taken straight to hospital from Cape Town Stadium after he picked up a knock to the head that left a cut.

“It was just after the warm-up and it was in a low-key contract drill,” Bok assistant coach Johan van Graan said after training on Tuesday.

“I think he got an elbow or another guy’s head on his head… we’ll know a bit more tomorrow. I don’t know how deep or how how big the cut is but depending on that I guess our doctor will make a call.”

Van Graan also confirmed that the injury was just above Lambie’s eye and that he would require stitches.

The Springboks are due to announce their side for Saturday’s clash against the World XV at Newlands on Wednesday.
