Lambie not getting gamr time at 10?
Is that a message from HM that Pollard (who did not impress much) and Morne will be his preferred FH’s at the WC? Lambie going as a utility back who can cover a couple of positions from the bench?
Wonder how Mapoe would’ve done in a game like today?
I also thought that Burden comprehensively outplayed Bissie.
Matfield as anonymous. Flip even stole a ball from him on our throw.
The two flankers (Flo and Coetzee) did great. God work on the ground from both of them.
Jannie was his useless self apart from 1 or 2 good tackles.
Beast just one tackle from hm that I can remember. Lucky that Heyman got penalised when he was the one who went to the ground 1st.
Habana did well with the few opportunities he got. When will we get inside backs who can put our outside backs into space?
JPP is done for.
Willie was his usual enthusiastic self. Not looking at his hat trick.
The Boks scored 22 points in the 1st 20 minutes. In the next 34 minutes they didn’t score any points until Willie scored in the 54th minute. That is going scoreless for more than half an hour (nearly a full half of a rugby match) against a raap-en-skraap team of outoppies who came hear for a holiday. (Ali Williams’ body language when he went off told a story of its own). Means we only played the 1st 20 minutes, when we were pumped, and the last 20 minutes when the opposition ran out of puff.
Let’s look at the positives that came out o this game without getting too far ahead of ourselves.
Another question: Was it JdV’s introduction in the 60th minute that inspired the Boks to score 3 more tries in the last 20 minutes? What then does that say about Vic’s leadership of the team?
@ nortie:
“Dis die hartseer dan van ons rugby….NZ en Aus kies spelers op vleul wat vir hulle kan driee druk…..ons soek spelers wat kan verdedig en keer dat die opposisie druk.
Groot verskil in mindset”
“We have a long flight to Brisbane and only two proper training sessions before we face Australia where we will probably have to make more than 200 tackles against the Wallabies, so have to prepare very well,” explained the Springbok coach.”
Dit se alles.

Jy praat mos nou klomp kak!
Bissie was better than I have seen him for a year.
Flip was not in Matfield’s standard, let alone class.
Haters will remain haters.
The other night you boldly predicted this World XV were going to beat the Springboks… and what utter rubbish that turned out to be… a 36-point win for the Springboks, Heyneke Meyer’s (“Die Dom Moer”, according to you) team… my team, South Africa’s national team.
Now suddenly you proclaim that the World XV side are a bunch of old toppies on a holiday.
Gaan kak man!
Good morning from a frosty Christchurch. Have not been following sport or much news for a while so it’s good to check here and see what looks to have been a good start to the season for Mr Meyer’s men.
No time to read through all the match comments now, how did Jesse Kriel do at centre?

Jy praat mos nou ‘n klomp kak, GBS.
Dis wat ek gese het: “Don’t be surprise if the result does not go our way. The only thing in our favour is the fact that it is a world team with no team cohesion.”
I’ll regard it more of a warning than a prediction but hey, it’s just “bitter” old me.
Moet ons SO daarna kyk?
@ Bullscot:
Not too bad but the stars of the show in the back line were Pienaar and De Allende imo. Veral Pienaar was kwiksilwer by die afbreekpunte.
Willie scored a hattrick

Jy weet seker waarvan jy praat.

Here’s the real newsflash:
I was talking about the next Bok match, not the RWC – please read properly & give yourself an opportunity to digest & understand before commenting on bloggers’ posts.
@ Angostura:
Yes, I see your point, I made the same mistake. I was also thinking long term, the WC team, not next Saturday’s.
@ Nama:
A few of de allendes runs was down the left wing down the touchline… For what its worth…
The biggest highlight for ne was our quick ball this was to guys cleaning out fiercely, even jannie had a nice game in the loose, this helped free up quick ball to pienaar who could give pollard quick ball and help the backline look threatening. We got tired towards the end of the first half though and our ball started slowing up taking that extra few seconds to get freed up for the scrumhalf. This again got better towards the end of the game when the replacements came on.
So we REALLY need to work on our fitness levels if we want to compete with nz. And we have competed very well against them for the last few years, only to run out of stream towards the end.
@ Angostura:
Ah, I see. My bad then.
You did also in your comment talk about the RWC squad. Maybe that’s where the confusion came in.
In any case, what do you expect from a “cognitively challenged” oke like me?
@ Pietman:
Ek stem.
The Lions halfback duo of Francois de Klerk and Elton Jantjies were among the most significant names to miss the cut when the Springbok squad for the opening round of the Rugby Championship was named.
Apart from scrumhalf De Klerk and flyhalf Jantjies, Lions lock Franco Mostert was also culled.
Patrick Lambie, Handré Pollard and Morné Steyn are the flyhalf choices, while Rudy Paige, Ruan Pienaar and Cobus Reinach are the scrumhalves who will travel to Brisbane.
Others staying behind include wing Cornal Hendricks, fullback Zane Kirchner, flank Siya Kolisi, hooker Siyabonga Ntubeni and prop Marcel van der Merwe.
South African tour squad:
Forwards: Schalk Brits, Schalk Burger, Marcell Coetzee, Lodewyk de Jager, Bismarck du Plessis, Jannie du Plessis, Eben Etzebeth, Vincent Koch, Francois Louw, Frans Malherbe, Victor Matfield, Teboho Mohoje, Tendai Mtawarira, Trevor Nyakane, Adriaan Strauss, Heinke van der Merwe, Warren Whiteley.
Backs: Damian De Allende, Bryan Habana, Jesse Kriel, Patrick Lambie, Willie le Roux, Lionel Mapoe, Lwazi Mvovo, Rudy Paige, Ruan Pienaar, JP Pietersen, Handré Pollard, Cobus Reinach, Jan Serfontein, Morné Steyn.
@ Nama:
Excerpt from an article about the touring squad.
The players who did not feature against the World XV, but will travel to Brisbane, are Lionel Mapoe, Lwazi Mvovo, b>Rudy Paige, Jan Serfontein, Morné Steyn, Schalk Brits, Lood de Jager, Frans Malherbe and Heinke van der Merwe.
“I would like to give as many of our squad members as possible game time in the build-up to the World Cup, so there will be changes against the Wallabies,” Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer said.
@ Nama:
The 3 Lions players, faf, Jantjes and Mostert can consider themselves unlucky to be excluded at this stage. Sort of flies in the face of picking players based on form
How much rugby has Lood de Jager played this season? He can consider himself very lucky.
@ Nama:
Interesting that HM is going with a 17 to 14 split between forwards and backs. Only 3 locks. Ok, then.
I would’ve expected a 18 to 13 split.
@ Pietman:
Ek bedoel Rudy Paige…nie Rudi Webmonster nie!
@ IAAS:
Agree. Form does not seem to be much of a consideration despite what HM told us.
@ Pietman:
Agree. Jantjies and Faf outperformed Paige and Pollie throughout the season. Paige should not even have been in the extended squad of 49.
@ IAAS:
Remember that Oupa Mohoje is only considered as a lock according to HM. So, there are 4 locks in the squad.
Stormers: 5
Lions: 2
Bulls: 7
Sharks: 8
Cheetahs: 3
Overseas based: 6
The two top SA franchises in SR this year provide just 7 players to the squad while the teams that ended 3rd and 4th, provide a whopping 15 players to the squad.
Talk about selection “on form”.
@ Nama:
