SpringboksThe Junior Springboks came through with a clean bill of health on Wednesday after completing their post-match medical and conditioning examinations following their 33 / 5 win over hosts Italy on Tuesday at the World Rugby Under 20 Championship in Calvisano.

Apart from a few bumps and bruises, the match squad who did duty against the Italians completed the game without injury. Lock RG Snyman (pictured), however, suffered a cut above the eyebrow in the 1st half and played on after receiving the necessary medical attention.

On Wednesday the Junior Boks had recovery sessions, which included a gym session for the non-playing squad members and the customary massages for those who were in action in the opening match. Later on the squad analysed their performance in a lengthy video session.

Head coach, Dawie Theron, and conditioning coach, Dr Warren Adams, also delivered a presentation to local coaches as part of a World Rugby Under 20 coaching workshop staged at the University of Mantova.

The 1st Round of pool matches were completed on Tuesday in glorious summer conditions at 3 Italian venues.

England (Pool A, 5 points), South Africa (Pool B, 5 points) and New Zealand (Pool C, 5 points) are leading their respective pools, with South Africa edging Australia for the top spot at this stage in Pool B because of a better points’ difference.

The pool winners and best placed 2nd team across all 3 pools, qualify for the semi-finals.

The next Round of pool games is on Saturday and the Junior Springboks will be in action against Samoa in Parma.

The match starts at 18:30 SA & Italy Time (16:30 GMT).
