Toulon boss Mourad Boudjellal took aim at the Stade Bordeaux spectators for showing “disrespect” to 1 of the game’s greatest players.
Stade Français stunned triple European champions Toulon 33 / 16 last Friday to reach the French Top 14 Final.
Led by the irrepressible Italian back row forward Sergio Parisse, Stade scored tries through flanks Rapahel Lakafia and Antoine Bourban, before a freak late score from wing Julien Arias gave a flattering skew to the final score – as they reached their 1st Final since defeating Clermont 23 / 18 in 2007.
It was a sad end for a number of veteran stalwarts, whose club careers ended with this defeat – including South Africa’s Bakkies Botha, along with Ali Williams and Carl Hayman of New Zealand.
Outgoing Toulon coach Bernard Laporte took aim at the players, for a lack of commitment, but the club President, Boudjellal, turned anger on the spectators.
He had his usual barrage of criticism aimed at the match officials – something that has often landed him in hot water in the past – and then too aim at spectators who hurled derisory and degrading whistling at the World Cup-winning Springbok, Botha, in his last game before walking of into retirement.
Boudjellal, known for his colourful and explosive language when he gets angry, called the spectators “bastards”.
He described the match officials as “mere spectators”.
But it was the behaviour of the spectators that most annoyed him.
“He had just finished his career,” he said of the treatment meted out to the Bok veteran as he left the playing surface at the end of the match.
“I do not know who the bastards are who whistled, but like him or not, we should respect the last match of such a great player,” he said of Botha.
“It is unacceptable to boo a boy like Bakkies Botha at the end of its career. For an athlete, the end of a career is a sporting ‘death’ and you should not whistle at someone like that.”

So, Toulon Boss, (The Bankroller of The Mercenaries), Mourad Boudjellal is “annoyed”.
Well, well.
Not sure if this is just a bad photo of Mourad……………………………………………….but he does look like a devious/shifty SOB……………………………. does he not.
As for Bakkies……………………………Is anyone surprised…………………………………..really?
Narbonne got its hustlers, Stade got its bums
Toulon got big Bakkies Botha
He a head buttin son of a gun
Yeah, he big ‘n’ dumb as a man can come
But he stronger than the country horse
And when the bad folks all get together at night
You know they all call big Bakkies “Boss”
Just because…
And they say:
“You don’t tug on Superman’s cape
You don’t piss into the wind
You don’t pull the mask off that ol’ Lone Ranger
And you don’t mess around with Him”
Well, he outta South Africa a country boy………………………………………..

Almost as hypocritical as Cheika who is “upset” about Benjaman’s trip on Folau…..but conveniently forgets that his own team is a bunch of thugs who tried to get rid of Whitelock by less than legal means

Hi nortie it would seem you are not as fond of Mr Michael ‘walks on water’ Cheika
Actually for all the things that disagree with Boudjellal on (which is pretty much everything else) in this instance I think while he could have chosen better words to express his disappointment I think that if there was booing of Bakkies that he is right to speak out against it. Seems very passionate person but the passion is not always well directed.
4 @ Bullscot:
Don’t care about Cheika, he adds a bit of favour to an otherwise boring sound bite profession, but I don’t like hypocrites.
5 @ Bullscot:
I doubt anyone was booing Bakkies, they were probably booing the whole team because they lost
6 @ nortie:
Sorry must have got the wrong impression previously then. Yes not good to be hypocrite but think if we are all honest at some times in our lives we display hyprocritical behaviour in whatever form whether saying or doing things that we wouldn’t like in return.
Regarding the Bakkies ‘booing’ that’s why I wrote that agree with Boudjellal if this is what happened, you are right the Toulon lot must have been quite the moer in with them for losing, they have got used to success in recent time but I think Boudjellal was claiming it was Stade fans whistling at Bakkies that he was not happy with.
They’re used to admiring effeminate alice band wearing, oily haired, latin soccer players diving for no reason at all and then laying on the pitch experiencing period or labour pain
They don’t understand a hardman like Bakkies
Farking Cheese eating surrender monkeys
Here in Paris we will remember the “good luck” hugging
at the end of the match
between
our Lock Papé and Botha
Very emotional our big guys…
worth a thousand boo
