I for one never ridiculed him
He was above average Boks coach, his 2009 season cannot be compared to by any past or present Boks’ coaches (Beating the ABs 3 times in a season)
His only down fall was the Q system which had appointed him; he wanted JS at LH to make a room for Bissie but his own people forced his hand to pick the Beast or Steenkamp at LH, and the rest is a history 😥

    Hmmm!

This is what SARU pushed hard for at the negotiating table before S15; to have a South African franchise in the finals without qualifying!!!

SARU is happy! Bit embarrassing for the strongest conference!!!

    What about 2012?

I suppose the ARU was happy then that the reds got through and played a home playoff game? 😀

Anyway morne steyn 12 clermont 6… Very tight game. Im happy? Morne got that last kick over. Jono ross now has a top 14 ( all stars league) winners medal since leaving the bulls… Though admittedly he is no parisse, yet he really got involved in the loose, but the bulls prefer loose forwards that stand in the backline that catch the ball in standing positions.

4 milestones in the demise of the Bulls Legacy

    1. Departure of Kirchner and WO 😉
    2. The benching of JLP and making Pollard the incumbent 😥
    3. Departure of Jono Ross 😥
    4. The arrival of The Trevor 😉 😉
    5. Reinstate Matfield as a player 😥 😥 😥

    @ Hondo:
Trevor has been by a country mile been our best front row forward This year… That Though by no means says Much.

Would Much prefer They give svhoeman more chance at 10… Luckily he will have the entire currie cup.

The team manager wynie strydom meant a lot to the bulls, personally i don’t see the bulls as a unit anymore, that family vibe we had is gone, players are leaving the union any chance They get, mostly because They are not handled professionally. There are Much more contractual issues Than at other sa provinces.

Plum would be good for any team.

As a backline coach though… The difference Senatla makes to the stormers is simply incredible, that stems from his sevens background and awareness of space (and pace).

You guys have treu on the boks… Give him the backline… Or slapchips.

I understand where you are coming rom, “anyone will be better than fleckie” 😆

All of a sudden coaches have to have “level 3 coaching certificate” to coach at a certain level. Just because Naas says so? Strond met strepe!!!

What coaching level does the current Junior Bok coach posses?
What coaching level does Franco Smith posses?
What coaching level does Ackerman posses?

Fact of the matter is that when PdV talked about “playing the situation” in 2008, ALL “traditional” Bok supporters were up in arms about his new approach and all of them were lambasting him. “Their” view was that the Boks should play to their “traditional strength”. Hardloop die naaste teenstander in sy moer in want ons s groot en sterk, maar vokken onnosele rugbyspeleres.

The Bulls, Junior Boks and the Boks are playing to the “traditional strength” of SA rugby. Heyneke, the messias, made sure of it.

  • 191

    So, here is my question.

Is the way paved for Matfield and FdP to become the bok coaches after His Meyerness in 2019?

Meyer is positioning himself as Bok coach after this year’s RWC, it seems. Hence him saying that he invited some “young players” to the training camps with a “view on the future.”

Meyer is also responsible for the Junior Boks playing a “Bok brand” of rugby because he wanted us to play the same style from junior levels.

Do we really want this fool to dictate how SA teams should play seeing how the Bulls did in this years’ SR playing HIS type of game?

  • 192

The most experience coach in the history of Super Rugby, the ONLY SA coach to win the SR competition TWICE, is now fired because Herr Heyneke’s game plan for the Bulls does not work anymore!

    Nonsens!

  • 193

how did alberts in this match ?
    guys

  • 194

    Heyneke Meyer: Bok afrigter 2016-2019

Frans Ludeke: DOR by die Bulle.
Matfield. FdP: Afrigters by die Bulle.

    Voeg daarby:
John Smit as CEO by die Sharks
Gary Gold as DOR by die Sharks.

Straueli as CEO by die Leeus

    AC oppad na Japan.

    Bok rugby gaan vorentoe!!!

  • 195

    @ rebop75:
    He kicked a grubber.

All that I can remember about him in the game.

  • 196

BTW Stade Francais won (a more and less ugly) 12-6 against clermont tonight

and is new 2015 French Champion
our 14th title (only second to Toulouse with 19)

last was in 2007 (against clermont…)

clermont has now 11 finals and only 1 win
+ 2 times runner up in european cup
    tough !

  • 197

    @ nama

    not much then…

  • 198

    @ MacroPolo:

The Reds at least qualified in the top 6!!!!

  • 199

In the business world you are shown the door for non-performance. Its a pretty universal practise. And rugby IS a business.

  • 200

Maybe we are seeing a Harald Macmillan re-inaction in our rugby. Changing of the guard at the Bulls/Cheetahs/Stormers. Sharks/EP not so good. Mass player exodus. Surge in retirements.
“wind of change” is blowing into a black south-easter.

What a load of whiney kak.

Are you implying any other sa team did any better? Your brilliant stormers team ended 7th best.

And then you suggest that is all meyers fault?

  • 202

Morning MP. Your point is made. 7th is not very good by any measure. Just the best of a sad lot. I think the point Nama is trying to underline: SA rugby is in the dwang and the primary reason therefore is the outdated style of rugby we play and Meyer(as lead coach) anoints by virtue of his deeds at the Bulls. Something like that. He’s a tad upset about it I think.

  • 203

    @ MacroPolo:

You’ve got to be in it to win it!

  • 204

to stretch the point a bit further: SA currently has arguably the worst backline of all the major rugby playing nations. Its not the individuals that are sub-standard. Its the style we insist on playing. Domkrag rugby some call it. That’s the coach’s call.

  • 205

    @ Angostura: @ 161

That much is true. I was against this conference system from the outset and like most here, I would want go to back to the one-log system where all teams play each other.

But it is what it is. And next year it gets worse.

  • 206

We play a conservative style of rugby. Defence first. It works up to a point but a smart attack eventually prevails and we lose. You cannot defend for 80 minutes. Or 60. That’s why the AB’s usually score and win in the dying minutes of a Test.

  • 207

    @ Tassies:

Hi Tassies – how you doing?

keo himself wrote an article a few weeks back. The essence was that SA has some great rugby players who would cut it in a NZ franchise.

His main point was this – none of the existing SA coaches would cut it at a NZ franchise. There I have to agree with him.
Mallett last night was going on about this.

  • 208

@ IAAS: that’s a good point. But we wont win it. Simple. We’re not good enough or that would reflect on the table. We might beat the Brumbies at home but that’s a big might. We wont beat any of the others away. I’ll put money on it.

  • 209

@ IAAS: Howzit. All good. Seems our ‘weather’ has arrived though. I hate winter. Missed Mallett’s comments last night. But I entirely agree. We have some great talent. Plenty of it too. Our management in general however, is poor in the extreme. Sad really.

  • 210

@ IAAS: Absolutely. Its a rigged system. For the TV audience. Think; what would be the viewership loss if the Stormers were not part of the mix next week. If we lose to the Brumbies, the SA viewers would rather go to Makro on saturday morning than watch the Australasians slug it out for the glory.
