SA rugby has gone backwards at an alarming rate the past 4 years

    Who’s to blame?

  • 156

What this match does show is that there is a massive rift between the ‘A’ side players and the rest at the Stormers, these boys simply don’t have a clue! (The Stormers, that is)

    Well done Sharks.
The Stormers were competitive till midway through the 2nd half. Still job done.

SA rugby in a vortex of incompetence?

Is there anything we do well anymore?

  • 161

So the Stormers end up 7th on the log, yet they make the playoffs as 3rd placed team

    What a farce …

  • 162

Stade Francaise vs Toulon on here…what a completely different game I am watching now, great rugby this!

  • 163

I agree with Angos. We can’t keep cotton cooling it. SA rugby is in a dire state, across the board in my view, with perhaps the only glimmer being the Lions.

We have this inability to keep up with the rest of the rugby world, and how the game is changing. We cannot grasp the new laws when they come out, and when we eventually do, we are so far behind the 8-ball, they’ve already changed the rules again.

I fear that this WC is going to be a huge embarrassment for us, unless the Ostrich has some incredible gameplay that we haven’t seen yet.

    Spot on comment.
New Stormer coach will have his job cut out for him.

    Breaking news.
    Frans Ludeke has resigned.

    Happy days are here again?

What are your thoughts on the new coach?

    OK, good night folks!

    @ Just For Kicks:
What I mentioned on the mails….if we can get Plum, that would be great.
They should try and get Carlos as back line coach as well, especially now after the Kings snubbed him

  • 169

@ nortie:Yeah, sorry, so far behind on my emails, been a bit busy. Plum would be a massive coup in my book, and agree with Carlos with the young talent coming through, allowing them to show their natural flair, before the archaic SA coaches get hold of them and coach any natural ability they might have.

  • 170

    169 @ Just For Kicks:
I think Carlos must be up for an offer from one of the bigger unions….the Kings obviously don’t rate him highly, so I think he will be much better than Fleck

  • 171

    170 @ nortie:
Why would Carlos Spencer be a good backline coach? What is his coaching credentials and qualifications?

A Good player does not automatically translate into a good coach.

His ONLY coaching track record is:

    – Crap at the Lions, relieved of his duties
    – Crap at the Kings, snubbed

Did you even listen what Mallett & Naas said now in studio, that the coaches should come through structures and actually QUALIFY to become coaches!!

  • 172

    171 @ grootblousmile:
When he was at the Lions he had to work with players who stabbed their coach in the back.
At the Kings….well, need anyone say anything about those players?

I would like to see him instead of Fleck with some better players like at the Stormers.

  • 173

    172 @ nortie:
Still, do you want to experiment and take a huge gamble or wouldn’t it be prudent to have him work his way up in the structures, and actually qualify and prove to be a good coach first?

  • 174

    @ grootblousmile:
He has been coaching for probably 4-5 years now.

If we get Plum, then I think Carlos will do well….rather two Kiwis who actually know how to play the game than some SA coaches IMO.

Even Mitch and Carlos together again at the Stormers will do it for me

  • 175

    174 @ nortie:
    4 to 5 Years… and achieved what?

What is his Coaching Qualifications, does he even have a Level 3 IRB (World Rugby) Coaching certificate / diploma or any formal coaching qualification, is he even Bok-Smart certified?

His track record does not provide clarity or food for thought.

You think in civilian life he would be appointed anywhere on a whim like that… that hunch… that flimsy, iffy-bitty CV?

  • 176

    @ grootblousmile:
Like your qualified Bulls coaches with all their resources? How did that work out for them?

You can have Victor and FdP, where are their qualifications?

I wouldn’t mind seeing Plum and Carlos at the Stormers, that’s my opinion.

  • 177

    @ grootblousmile:
Pieter de Villiers also has all those qualifications, certificates and courses, yet he is ridiculed every time someone mentions his name

  • 178

    176 @ nortie:
Please stay right put where you work, you won’t last in the open market as a manager or business owner or executive.

Decisions are not made on whims and guesses, it is made with info at hand.

Maybe Carlos has qualifications, point is you have no clue whether he has any.

    Good night!
