DHL Western Province Director of Rugby Gert Smal has confirmed their interest in signing Springbok lock Pieter-Steph du Toit from the Cell C Sharks.
Smal confirmed to EWN Sport that a discussion between him and Du Toit had taken place.
Smal said the Sharks had agreed to the discussion taking place.
The WP boss said the discussion went well and he now hopes Du Toit “makes the right decision to come to Cape Town.”
Du Toit, 22, signed a 2-year contract extension at the Sharks in July 2013 which runs until 30 June this year.
Du Toit recently indicated that he would like to repay the faith the Sharks had shown him through his periods sidelined with injuries, but he was schooled in the Western Cape and his family lives there, which makes a move back to the region an appealing one.
Du Toit played 2 Tests for the Springboks in 2013, but has been plagues by knee injuries in recent years.

Oh well, with the Argie probably on his way out, and Eben most likely to move to France after next season the Stormers will be left with Ruan Botha (injury proned) and jean Kleyn so they will certainly be a bit vulnerable as far as locks are concerned. The 2015 Vodacom team locks are nothing to write home about.
IMO it is unlikely that du Toit will come home though… Gert will have to produce big bucks to beat the Sharks off and will also have to get the approval of Macro Bull who is very much against the idea of du Toit signing for the Stormers. A tough task indeed.
