Absolutely! Thanks for reminding me, I forgot to post earlier that there is no truth whatsoever in the rumour that those magezas are deeemanding danger pay!
357: thanks, I can feel the luvvv, hehe 😯
@ Ben-die-Bul:
haha
this conference is still wide open
Elke game van nou af vir Bulle, Stormers en Leeus soos ‘n final vir die konferensiebeker.
Am looking at the positives from tonight’s game…losing by one point away to the Currie cup champions (a record for us, I think) SA’s ref-of-the-year putting in another sterling performance, etc…the list goes on….
But all will be forgotten when Brumbies Team Director Ben Gathercole calls me to come collect the “parcel” he bought over for me…
A Stormers game at home under a SARU referee is something I haven’t watched for 5 years already
I am pretty sure though that Nama and Norti danced on the table with joy!

So you admit you haven’t watched some rugby for 5 years…..now some of your comments this week actually makes sense 😆
Meer kyk en minder praat 😉
I’m happy that we picked up 4 log points, not quite dance on the table happy, but wasn’t impressed with the match.
One side pitched up to niggle and push the boundaries, the other side seems incapable of playing positive running rugby and only have one trick up their sleeve….a hugely dominant scrum.
End result was a eyesore
I would be unterested to see how much time of this game was spent on scrums and handbags being thrown around.
@ MacroBull:
Too much….I see AC was complaining about Berry “coaching and not penalizing the Brumbies, and not giving them more yellows”
Ridiculous comments IMO….the team should be able to think on their feet and play the way the ref blows and what the opposition is doing.
The fact that they were penalized 19-5 and we only won because of a terrible missed conversion should be alarming
@ nortie:
Yep 19-5 on the penalty count is a mammoth advantage already. Surely cant blame the ref for the game plan.
@ nortie:
I think schalk had a good game yesterday he was everywhere and constantly in the thick of things which is great… But you have to wonder if standing at center after every second phase actually doing more harm than good in the overall team dynamic? Since schalk came back DDA has pretty much been a ghost.
@ MacroBull:
Precisely.
I think the bye this weekend is coming at just the right time, for Duane who picked up that knock, and for the rest to take a break, take stock and decide how they want to continue forward.
Both the Lions and Cheetahs will come to Newlands knowing that all you need to do is run at the Stormers for 80 minutes and you will be rewarded.
Sharks in Durban will play above themselves and push for a win to end their dismal year

No need to watch such a game, the penalty count according to Mallett was 19-5 in favour of the Stormers, so why bother if you aren’t a ‘Looter’
A reminder: about 94%of the Stormers’ SR victories came under SARU referees
🙁
@ nortie:
Dont worry duane will played injured or not
@ Hondo:
I think many teams playing at home will have a ref from their country at the helm? Then its up to that team to win their home games.
374 @ Hondo:
It wasn’t just at Newlands where the home side was favored Hondo….since last week no home team has lost.
We saw the Chiefs being shafted against the Rebels last week, the Sharks got nailed this weekend, the Lions got advantaged and so did the Stormers.
It’s not just here in SA or at Newlands.
This week will be interesting, because the Bulls should beat the Blues on current form, but will the ref assist?
The Rebels should beat the Reds on current form, but in Queensland will the ref favor the home team?
The Sharks should be up for the Waratahs, but will the home side be advantaged?
The Highlanders should, on current form, beat the Cheetahs, but will the home ref keep that from happening?
It’s difficult to pick all the home sides this week, knowing that at least 4 games could, or should, go to the away team.

Remember: the ‘neutral Referees’ system was scrapped in 2011 season
Before, it was considered unacceptable (not to have a neutral referee)
Yesterday a Stormers’ victory was a MUST to ensure a 1st round bye and a home ground advantage for the Stormers!
@ Hondo:
So the Crusaders have struggled since there has been no more neutral referees?
Some referees just seem more likely to favor the home team because of the home crowd that we saw with the CC semi final last year 😉
Stu berry had their back this week and he does the next Stormers Sharks game in Dirtban he will probably have the sharks back.
My analyses of the Stommer game plan is that AC relies on forwards running off forwards… if the carrier gets over the advantage line there should theoretically be a forward (like schalk) behind the carrier to make the clean out to secure quick ball. The problem is when the carrier does not get over the advantage line… So the backline must quietly sit back, and strike magic when to forwards expect it… just all very unreasonable… for 4 years there has been little cohesion with the forwards and backs, it is simply amazing it has carried on so long.

You are right of course, and it must be the reason why SR ratings are in a free fall
Maybe it’s a good move to separate us from the ANZAC part next year, so referees’ misconduct will be considered an ‘internal affair’ like in the CC?
😉
There was absolutely no reason for Pollock the Kiwi to bend the game; the Canes place at the top had been already secured anyway
@ Hondo:
@ MacroBull:
Whether or not Berry “had their backs” or needed to ensure “the Stormer’s ended top of the log” the bottom line is still that a missed conversion by Leiliofano was the difference between winning and losing….and Berry had no influence over the kick.
382 @ Hondo:
The Canes’ place at the top is looking promising, but not yet secured…..they must still p,ay the Chiefs twice
@ nortie:
had their back was probably the wrong words…
Berry seemed to favor the Stormers subconsciously?
That said the stormers scrum already dominated the brumbies scrum so there are plenty scrum penalties with or without berry’s help.
@ MacroBull:

That’s the popular belief, myself I don’t have any of this
Referees follow instructions of their employers, Bryce Lawrence followed instructions in case you’ve missed it? 😉
As you mentioned, a 19:5 penalties count means something?
385 @ MacroBull:
True that….but maybe AC does have a point….19 penalties against and the only yellow was for a tip tackle that was seen as an isolated event…..and it happened right in front of Berry and he didn’t call it in real time, the decision was made only long after
@ Hondo:
honestly berry was much better than pollock. So Berry was not that bad, there were just one or two cases I can think of, and that is when a brumbie lost his bind and immediately got penalised, but kitchoff did it and nothing happened, there was also one scrum with an early shove by the stormers (that led to the try) where Berry had the scrum reset… there was maybe one scrum at the start of the game and the only one where the Brumbies did well where the Stommers went up and were not penalised…
It is hard to blame Berry and say he went out to get those calls wrong… I think it is a mixture of home crowd and a complexity of scrum laws.
nortie wrote:
Could also have been a case where Berry saw it, but when Schalk was fine he choose to play the advantage… which is good refereeing in my book.
@ nortie:

True, but they have a huge bonus points ad. ?
Anyway, along with the Chiefs they seemed to have the 1-2 places secured, while the
A loss yesterday would have been a disaster for the Stormers’ campain!
