Cape Town – World Rugby on Friday announced referee appointments for the 2015 Rugby Championship.
Wales’ Nigel Owens will referee the Springboks’ first match against Australia in Brisbane on Saturday, July 18.
The Boks’ second match – against New Zealand in Johannesburg (July 25) – will be officiated by Frenchman Jerome Garces, while their third and final game against Argentina in Durban (August 8) will be handled by another Frenchman, Romain Poite.
After the Rugby Championship, which is shortened because it’s a World Cup year, the Springboks also play a stand-alone Test against Argentina in Buenos Aires. That game will be refereed by New Zealand’s Glen Jackson.
South African officials involved in the Rugby Championship include Craig Joubert, Jaco Peyper, Stuart Berry and Shaun Veldsman.
