Ian Prior

Ian Prior of the Western Force received a Red Card for a tip-tackle on Tim Nanai-Williams during a Super Rugby match against the Chiefs on Friday.

Prior dumped Nanai-Williams in a tackle that saw the Chiefs wing land on his neck and head, in an incident that occurred in the 28th minute of the match at Waikato Stadium in Hamilton.

He is alleged to have contravened Law 10.4 (j) Lifting a player from the ground and dropping or driving that player into the ground whilst that player’s feet are still off the ground such that the player’s head and / or upper body come into contact with the ground.

The case is to be ruled by SANZAR Duty Judicial Officer Nigel Hampton.

All SANZAR disciplinary matters are in the first instance referred to a Duty Judicial Officer hearing to provide the option of expediting the judicial process.

For a matter to be dispensed with at this hearing, the person appearing must plead guilty and accept the penalty offered by the DJO.

Duty Judicial Officer: Nigel Hampton
Player: Ian Prior
Team: Western Force
Position: Scrumhalf
Date of Incident: 24 April 2015
Nature of Offence: 10.4 (j) Lifting a player from the ground and dropping or driving that player into the ground whilst that player’s feet are still off the ground such that the player’s head and / or upper body come into contact with the ground.
Elapsed time in match when offence occurred: 28th minute

    “Justice for Frans.” Consistency?Please!

  • 2

    A “Plaintiffs” Plaintive” cry.

No influence from another player, should be even more than 5 weeks, the player didnt have the ball either… even worse than the Fransie one. He might (Should) miss the rest of the season.

Effectively gets a two match suspension. saNZAR is a fucking joke.

  • 6

And yet again we are the butt of that joke

  • 7

He’s pleaded guilty off the bat and no priors maybe. That’s the only way he’d get a lighter suspension.

  • 8

    I’m not at all suprised.

Both Parents, any Uncles and Aunts on his Father’s side, and probably even some Grandparents are Priors!

On a serious note though, SANZAR really has to look at this whole judicial system.

‘Tis a fukc up of epic proportions.

Maybe SANZAR has actually run its course and it’s time for a shake up.

Problem is with guys like Messrs Hoskins and Roux heading SARU, the chance of any dynamic changes occuring are about as good as me winning gold at the 100m dash at Rio next year.

    @ Scrumdown:
All I can think is that contrition and ones record must be worth a couple of weeks dispensation… But your right about the judicial system needing to tidy itself up….and a semblance of fairness needs to be shown across all three conferences..or are there jurisdiction problems I’m unaware of…

    @ Te Rangatira:

Look it’s been a long time since there has been any semblance of fairness in anything Sanzar does.
