At least the Bulls get a losing bonus point… so the Stormers are just 1 Log point ahead of the Bulls on the SA Log
Good contest
Strange how things change with the passage of time:
Stormers now have the better pack, & the Bulls the more potent backline
Pollard could on 2 occasions have clinched it for the Bulls – but he didn’t
& that is that …
Remember, there is still the game tomorrow morning at 08:05 SA Time, between the Reds vs Jurricanes

The 4 Converted penalties against Dean Greyling (3) and Deon Stegmann (1) in the 1st half, really cost the Bulls!!
I enjoyed both games today (of the 4 SA franchises) – great contests right to the final whistle; 2 entirely different games & different styles of play, but generally good rugby; in both matches there were some very good individual performances.
Win or lose, the supporters of these 4 franchises can be proud of their teams’ performances.
G’nite
{GO REDS!}
BTW
The film, Die Wonderwerker, (about the life & times of the Afr poet Eugene Marais) is about to start on ch 144.
I can highly recommend this film if you have not yet seen it.
Marais was a fascinating man.
OK, manne en manninne… see you in the morning!
Well done Stormers. Think Stormers have done the double over us this Super Rugby, dit wil gedoen wees.
Reading through the comments it seems like this was a tough game for both teams, but scoring the only try wasn’t good enough as our indiscipline let us down. Quite disappointed that we didn’t get the win.
13 @ nortie:
Oops sorry Ango. You must be so chuffed nortie well done with your win tonight.
12@ Pietman:
Thanks Pietman will go and reply there, was just tied up with things today, was happy to see Puma was here. See you spoke about watching the Connacht v Glasgow game, didn’t know you were able to watch the PRO12, what TV is it broadcast on? Just glad to hear PRO12 is being watched outside the 4 (for rugby purposes) countries who have teams in it. Couldn’t watch the game, what did you think of the quality, do you think Glasgow can go all the way, we have at least secured our semi final spot with two games to go, hopefully we can end on top and get a home semi-final, pity they changed the venue for the final during this season. It is now in Belfast whereas in years gone by it worked like Currie Cup, Super Rugby etc where you were rewarded for your league form over a long season and whichever of the two finalists ended higher in the league they got to host it. But let us try and get through a semi final no point in getting ahead of ourselves.
Soooo, no “official quota system” in place for SA’s SR teams so tonigh’s result serves the Bulls right for only including one POC in their starting lineup…roll on 2019…
@ BrumbiesBoy:
You make no sense.
Shouldn’t you rather talk about the “quota” team that beat the Bulls?
I guess it’s late at night.
A couple of questions I need to ask.
The best FH of the weekend?
Jantjies
Pollard
Catrikilis
The best outside centre of the weekend?
Janneman
Mapoe
De Jongh
Who are the players in the respective positions in Meyer’s plans?
Did Meyer nominate the tatoo boy as his right wing for the tollies and the Boks? Why is he all of a sudden playing there? A few of years ago (2011) he kept Mvovo, Basson, Ruhle out of the side on the left wing.
I guess Habana’s name is written in stone as the left wing for the RWC at this stage. That’s why the tatoo boy is given a chance to play himself into the team on the right wing. I mean, he failed dismally as a scrum half for the Bok over the last few years, despite the fact that Fourie du Preez anointment him as his natural successor after 2011.
In the mean time, the Stormers moered the tollies…as is usual.
Hahaha…
Gunther’s business will probably need his personal attention over the next few weeks seeing that they will lose against the Lions next week before they go on tour…or will they?
…and just like that, Stormers are on top of the SA log…AGAIN.
As predicted by the Nama at the start f the season:
2/2 against the Bulls for 2015…
2/4 on the oversea’s tour…
2 away wins in the local derbies…
unbeaten at Newlands against SA sides… on track.
only one lost against overseas sides at Newlands… on track.
Winning the SA Conference…ON TRACK.

1. It’s not often that you see the Bulls at the receiving end of a SARU’s appointed referee, but yesterday that exactly what happened đ
2. Pollard is a hoax, if he was just half the flyhalf which the media made him, the Bulls would have taken the match by a walk, all rants by the Bulls supporters against Ludke should start with Pollard’s selection!

Gutted to see we lost what sounded like a close game.
Looks like Greyling cost us dearly?
Nama referring to himself in the third person he must be properly gesuip.

Forget for the moment official quotas, unofficial targets & obvious political interference in sport, etc.
Perhaps a perception worth investigating is that the Bulls union/franchise does very little by way of organic, internal PoC player nurturing & development, preferring to simply buy emerging PoC talent from the established rugby nurseries … but then, once they are acquired, most of them are simply indefinitely quarantined at lower levels …
If this perception were to be validated by the facts, the burning question would remain, “what is the institutional philosophy/value system/psychology underlying such a wasteful phenomenon?”
THAT is what would need to change – only THEN will the fruits of an open, egalitarian society be plucked in SA Rugby.
PS: The Bulls franchise is just the topic du jour – I’m not ‘picking’ on them.
When Thormeulen laid on the ground holding his shoulder, I thought fark their goes his world cup.
Next minute his back up tackling harder than ever.
He should be Bok captain.
what a pleasant surprise following the log-on to RT a moment ago. I had no way of knowing what the result was. Until NOW. Think I’ll open that bottle of Hartenburg I brought over, which is chilling in the bar fridge for just such an occasion. Its 1.20pm so suns over the yardarm. Appears as if it was a good scrap. Hard luck BB’s. Newlands will be delighted tho.
Great win for the Stormers as they managed to keep their noses in front. Was a heart in mouth moment when Pollard attempted that drop goal at the end.
Lineouts for the Stormers need a whole lot of work this week.
The sun is out on a beautiful early winter’s day… today is another day.
Like I said last night, it was actually a pity there had to be a loser in the game… it was hard-fought, hammer and tongs, no mercy stuff!
The 2 SA derbies showed that SA rugby is still alive and kicking, as we saw the 2 extremes of rugby – open and blissfull running rugby with massive skill displayed in the one (8 tries)…. and the hardest of beautifully executed power and defensive rugby in the other (1 try by the losing team).

Pity that a fool like Dean Greyling gave the Stormers most of their points… and cost the Bulls dearly.
Macrobull can say what he likes about Dean Greyling and how well he performs in the loose… but he is a penalty machine.
Ditto Deon Stegmann, I think his time has come and gone.
I would play Lappies Labuschagne on Openside Flank for the Bulls from hereon in… he plays like a pucker fetcher anyway, towards the ball and in the traditional Opensider style!
@ grootblousmile:
I maintain that dean is a good player in the loose but i also always add that he is a liability in the scrum.
255 @ Nama:
So your saying hougaard isnt playing well on the wing?
Also Habana’s team is going to the european champiionship final and playing well… Not playing badly either, is he?
And congratulations winning the sa conference : D…But no super rugby trophy?
Cape Town – The national selectors have named two squads of 44 players each â including 19 uncapped and a number of currently injured players â for the Springboksâ first two training camps of the season, in Johannesburg and Cape Town.
The first camp, in Johannesburg, will run from May 3 to 6 and the second camp is scheduled for Cape Town from May 31 to June 3. The international season starts on July 11 with a match against a World XV in Cape Town.
Of the 19 uncapped players, 16 have been involved with the Springboks before, either as members of touring squads or at training or planning camps since 2012. The only new faces invited are Vincent Koch, Faf de Klerk and Cheslin Kolbe.
The other 16 uncapped players invited to one or both of the camps, are Ruan Botha, Robbie Coetzee, Jacques du Plessis, Steven Kitshoff, Lappies Labuschagne, Scarra Ntubeni, Lizo Gqoboka, Bongi Mbonambi, Michael Rhodes, Demetri Catrakilis, Jesse Kriel, Lionel Mapoe, Rudy Paige, Kobus van Wyk, Francois Venter and Nic Groom.
âThe door to Springbok selection is never closed and by inviting these players we are rewarding great form for their franchises in Vodacom Super Rugby,â said Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer.
âThe amazing thing is that most of these 19 uncapped players have been involved with us before, but Iâm always excited to work with new players.
âThis year, players such as Steven Kitshoff, Vincent Koch and Jesse Kriel, to name but a few, have been in great form in Vodacom Super Rugby and they are certainly knocking on the selection door. The Rugby World Cup squad will only be announced at the end of August and there is still a lot of places weâre undecided on.
âThe same goes for a number of more familiar faces, who have recovered from injury and are playing good rugby again. Itâs always good to see experienced players back in the frame.â
The training squads include key players currently injured, such as Springbok captain Jean de Villiers, Pat Lambie and Pieter-Steph du Toit, who have been invited to the camps but will not take part in the field sessions. They will be monitored and their fitness evaluated as the international season is getting closer.
âInjuries are part of the game but I am concerned about them,â said Meyer.
âThese camps will provide our medical team with the opportunity to evaluate the progress on the injured players as many of them are experienced and established Springboks who will in all probability feature at some stage this season. It also makes sense to involve them now already in our off-field sessions and video sessions.â
Players based abroad were not considered for the camps, while their Vodacom Super Rugby tours means the involvement of players from the Cell C Sharks and Vodacom Bulls will be limited to one camp each. The squads may change subject to further injuries.

@ nortie:
No Frans Steyn
Dean Greyling made it to the camp đ
Brussouw at least also invited
S’long Fransie
@ gunther:
Hey, my team won. What did you expect?
@ MacroBull:
I’m not saying that he is not playing well. Just interesting to see him playing on the right wing so far this season. As I said, he was selected ahead of Basson, Mvovo and Ruhle on the left wing during 2012 EOYT despite the fact that he toured as the 2nd SH. So, I’m wondering, what is the plan here? Is he the designated right wing for the Boks this season?
When last did your team win the SR? In fact, when last did your team win any competition?
