The Vodacom Bulls will get a number of Springboks back this week, but there is growing concern over the knee injury of veteran lock Victor Matfield.
Matfield will only know on Tuesday when he will play again.
He was originally listed as being ‘rested’ for the encounter with the Lions last week, but it has since emerged that the knee injury was the real problem.
It appears to be a major concern for the Bulls management.
The lock, who has a meniscal knee strain, will see knee specialist Dr Daan du Plessis to determine how long he will be out of action.

Moet ek PUB oopmaak vanaand?
@ Victoriabok:
Curriebeker is natuurlik ‘n heel ander storie.

Hi
@ nortie:
I think I’ll go Blues and Sharks on bru this weekend. Either fuckup my bru after a great weekend or make an even bigger move than the past weekend.
Wat se jou teeblare?
The Sharks will come back, as will the Bulls and Stormers.
This year’s SA conference will be closer than it has been for quite some time.
My hope is that the key players grow in confidence and stay uninjured come the business end so that they can be selected if needed for the WC squad.
Glad to see Flip is back, I hope he can wind his neck in and not give away too many stupid penalties.
He may be the answer at 5. Him or Ruan Botha.
@ Stormersboy:
The aftermath. The Sharks do not warrant a mention.
Players who impressed were Lionel Mapoe
Stand in line d,Allende, the Lions fly half who
never cut it at the Stormers but who was great against Bulls,(Jantjies) and …..Wait for it………..The much
maligned Pierre Spies.

Hi Nama.Your anti Lambie prejudice shines through.
Keep it up pal.Would you prefer Coleman?

@ ryecatcher:
Ruan by a country mile. If he can stay injury free, he will make a great combo with Etzebeth for Stormers and the Bokke.
@ Victoriabok:
PSDT…another one of those rugby prodigies who has yet to prove himself at senior level but is always “selected” for the Bok teams by the kenners.
When will they ever learn?
Stormersboy wrote:
So would I.
Spies had one of his best games on Saturday, but that shouldn’t be enough to surpass Whiteley, who has had 8 very good games in a row.
If the WC was on hard, dry fields Spies could be a contender, but up North in those conditions there is no way he should play if Vermeulen and Whiteley is available
Stormersboy wrote:
I’ll play Oom Wynie before I play Spies
@ Victoriabok:
It’s not all bad….if only the Lions used the “right ball” Spies would have caught it from the kick off and set off on a run, beating all 15 Lions and scoring under the post.
So, do I do a Pub or not?
This is why:

You have to play the youngsters to see if they’ll shape.
PSDT is the real deal, he’s still young. Lood looked good in his first couple of tests but he’s not that good this year
I still maintain the youngsters should play Vodacom and CC for a season or two before playing Super rugby. I think it will settle them and prevent them getting injured early in their careers. It worked with Pollard and I wish they did it with Hougie, it’s better to get gametime on the lower level than being on the bench in S15

“Your anti Lambie prejudice shines through.”
I’m not sure if you finished reading my comment but here is part of what I’ve said just for your benefit: “NS: Ek probeer geensins se dat Lambie ān swak speler is nie. Hy is tans die āincumbentā Bok losskakel en wat my betref die no. 1 keuse sou ān Bokspan more gekies word. Sy vertoning teen die Crusaders ten spyt.
You comment wrt Coleman I’ll rather not dignify with a response sans to say that it disappoints me. Not sure why.
Ag flok, you will get a Pub thread anyway!
The PUB is open!

Neither am I.

Don’t start with “if” or balls
