Rugby-TalkIt’s PUB NIGHT again…

The heading suggests we talk about the South African Super Rugby sides… err I mean about the successful ones on the weekend, after a weekend where 4 South African sides recorded wins in Super Rugby and I think that qualifies as a good weekend of rugby!

Fortunately the DHL Stormers and Toyota Cheetahs also won in Australia, the Lions beat the Sharks and the Bulls monstered the Rubble Reds. Good on Ya all!

This next weekend, Super Rugby will continue, 1 game on Friday and 6 games on Saturday.

I guess this makes for a few good discussions!

It is time to straddle a bar stool and order a drink or 2.

Let’s focus on the PUB tonight…. the idea with PUB NIGHT is to lighten up our dull Tuesday evenings with music, comedy and fun.

Rugby takes a backseat tonight as the clan and fellow rugby nutters gather and wheel in their old friends…

Read the rules below carefully, or you WILL get burnt!

Just for clarity sake, when someone does not adhere to the Rules of the PUB, EVERYBODY jumps on them and pummels them, right… understood?

Here’s how it works:

  1. Before you are allowed to greet, comment or take part in general discussion about anything else, you enter the PUB with a lekker Music Video found on Youtube.
  2. You copy the URL (web address) of the clip… and you make sure it is NOT the Mobile version of the URL (the Mobile version has a solitary “m” in the beginnig of the URL… just replace the “m” with “www” if there is a solitary “m” somewhere).
  3. Sometimes you have to replace the “http” part with “https” too… but we do not take excuses, we will pummel you anyway!
  4. You Paste the URL into the Comment Form Box of this Article and you SUBMIT your comment.
  5. Your video will appear in the Comments section.
  6. If you fail with your attempt and it does not appear, we WILL kak you out, we will pummel you with insults… and LAUGH at you, you silly muppit!
  7. Once you have a successful Video loaded, you can take part in the discussion and add more music, but beware, every broken link will cop you an “Uitkak” and a laugh at your expense.
  8. Failure to abide by the rules, will be punished by requiring you to say a seriously denigrating thing about the Provincial / Club side you support and asking all of us, by name, for forgiveness and acknowledging our clear superiority.
  9. Most important rule: Nobody is allowed to get angry… this is all in good fun!

Fire away!

Today, our FIRST VIDEO will be this one, here it is!

GB, like you, I work for a living. But now I blend a little lifestyle into proceedings. It works nicely.
I get home this saturday and de-brief for 5 days and then head for Hong Kong/China next saturday. At my age that needs chilled preparation, hence this current lot.
Anyway, battery’s getting low and I need to move on to find some decent seafood vir aandete. This place is pasta driven.

@ grootblousmile: I did. Twice. And we have it saved at home on ‘the box’. Will watch again when I’m in the mood. But you’re right. He was also quite big in Australia at the time but not quite the sensation he was over here. Co-incidently I listened to Cold Fact yesterday in the truck on the way down from Sodwana for example. Cool road music. Neil Young was to follow.

@ grootblousmile: Ja and you’re bigger, younger and maybe better looking than I. But I can still look fortunately. 🙂

  • 39

okay I’m down to 10% battery and building an appetite. Outta here. Chat later(maybe).

So depressing knowing the power could go off at any time… Need to unplug all the expensive “essentials” so now im sitting in the light like a poepol.

    @ MacroBull:

Farkall power here for second time today already. Really getting gatvol of this place.

  • 43

How ridiculously incredibly awesome is this?

  • 44

    @ robzim:
Yep and i don’t see it getting better though. Dont see the mines giving coal to medupi and kusile for The price government wants… Could inevitably lead to nationalisation… Could spin things even more oyt if control.

Not feeling too positive at the moment.

Johannesburg, South Africa — A 36-year-old man has undergone the world’s first successful head transplant. The ground-breaking operation took a team of surgeons nineteen hours to complete and has allowed the patient to be cancer-free. Paul Horner, who was diagnosed with bone cancer five years ago, was on the verge of death when he was approved for the controversial and possibly deadly operation. Doctor Tom Downey, who was part of the South African team who carried out the operation, told CNN he is thrilled about the results. “It’s a massive breakthrough,” Downey said. “We’ve proved that it can be done – we can give someone a brand new body that is just as good, or better, than their previous one. The success of this operation leads to infinite possibilities.” Surgeons at Charlotte Maxexe Johannesburg Academic Hospital inJohannesburg carried out the operation in February but waited until they could confirm it was successful before they made any public statement. Downey spoke to reporters about the complexity behind the first ever head transplant. “This procedure is another excellent example of how medical research, technical know-how and patient-centered care can be combined in the quest to relieve human suffering.” The operation was led by Professor Myron Danus and took place on February 10th of this year. “Our goal is for Horner to be fully functional in two years and so far we are very pleased by his rapid recovery,” said Danus. “Before the operation, Horner’s body was riddled with cancer and he had less than a month to live. We were fortunate enough to find a donor body; a 21-year-old man who has been brain dead from a serious car accident that happened in 2012. The boys body worked just fine, but his brain was not functioning whatsoever, and there was absolutely no chance of recovery.” Danus continued, “We received approval from the young man’s parents to use their sons body to do the operation. They were extremely happy their son could save a life even in the vegetated state that he was in.” Doctors say Horner has made an 85% recovery; walking, talking and doing the normal things a healthy individual does. The Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital, nicknamed Joburg Gen is an accredited general hospital in Parktown, Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa. It has 1,088 beds. The hospital’s professional and support staff exceeds 4,000 people. Even though Horner lives in the United States, the first-of-its-kind operation had to be done overseas in a location where the medical guidelines are not as strict.

English muso who plays under the name of King Krule…. sort of punk jazz indie stuff

  • 53

    49 @ robzim:
Thanks robzim that is a poignant one for me. Am going to see them tomorrow night, hopefully won’t shed a tear if they do that one. So along with Peter Gabriel (last year) that will be two down and a few more Genesis guys to go, need to find Phil Collins next. Some lineups they had!

  • 54

    @ Bullscot:

You must enjoy the show… Rutherford comes to SA quite often and i believe he has a massive house in Bantry Bay, CT….. i used to be a huge fan of Genesis especially during the Peter Gabriel era.

    Ek lê my wapens neer
    Vanaand vir die eerste keer
Sien ek myself in jou oë
    Ek het hierdie oorlog verloor
Ek staar na die bloed op my hande
    Ek weet ek het verander
Jy dink ek praat net weer
    Ek het jou lief
    Ek sweer

    Geen pretensie
    Geen beheer

    Buite die stemme wat skater
    Vriende wat groet
    Sien jou later
    Elkeen vind sy pad
Ek weet ek moet ook my skat

    Hey, my sweet
    Hey, my baby
    Jy’s my toevlug
Wil jou nooit laat huil nie
    Jy’s my lied
    Jy’s my wysie
    Ons het ’n hond
    Ons het ’n huisie

    Ek het genoeg gegee
    Ek het genoeg geskree
    Ek het lankal terug geleer
Maar nog steeds het ek probeer
    Vlug soos ’n verraaier
    Van dit wat my vashou
Daar was monsters in die donker
    Toe vind ek jou
    Ek sweer

    Geen pretensie
    Geen beheer
