Only 4 teams have failed to register 4 try bonus points this year, 3 of those at the bottom of the log and the other one…well… care to take a guess?

  • 182

The brumbies have already achieved 4 bonus points to make up for losing vs the Chiefs, while scoring 18 tries and only conceding 3.

  • 183

This time last year all the teams have won at least one home game, this year 5 teams have failed to register a home win so far: Blues, Lions, Force, Rebels and Waratahs.

When is Elstadt coming back? The Stormers needs a “fetcher”, cant even remember seeing Carr yesterday?

  • 185

Sh1t. I found the vast majority of this weekend’s Rugby utterly boring, with Wales / Ireland the notable exception.

Only see now that Schreuder is the starting SH. Never bet on Stormers when he starts. Too bad I already picked them for a win on bru. Will probably be the game we lose at Newlands this year.

Fukkit AC! It could’ve been 5/5.

As you can see, I was expecting the loss. My prediction for the season still holds.

4/4 in the derbies at Newlands…on course.
2/4 in the derbies away from home….achieved already
3/4 at Newlands against the Australasian teams…on course
2/4 on tour…still to be seen.

I wonder who some people will blame for the loss…Gert Smal or Allister Coetzee? Pondering Devilish Thinking

    187 @ Nama:
It was all Cheslin Kolbe, Dillyn Leyds, Juan de Jongh, Damian de Allende, Kurt Coleman, Nic Groom, Louis Schreuder, Alistair Vermaak, Frans Malherbe & the rest of the team’s fault!

Oh and a bit of Allister Coetzee too… hehehe

No serious, the players listed played kak (except Damian de Allende who was exceptionally good in the 1st 25 minutes, before turning into a lump of kak called Damian die Ellendige).

I think “Vincent van Koch” made a massive contribution, so too Scarra & Kitskos.. plus the locks & loosies… UNTIL the front row subs came on… and for the subs one can only blame Allister Coetzee!
I think Kobus van Wyk was bloody good too.

It was a great game though, and the Chiefs are class!

I didn’t see the match as I was at a rugby tournament in Port Nolloth but I see that many people are upset with AC replacing the props too early.

    189 @ Nama:
The initial front row as a whole monstered the Chiefs in the scrums… till Jamie Mackintosh eventually came on as a replacement and stabilized things somewhat for the Chiefs in the scrums. Vincent Koch was massive, so too the Ginger Ninja, Kitskos!

When Alistair Vermaak & Frans Malherbe came on, it turned to the opposite, with the Chiefs dominating the scrums.

Cheslin Kolbe slipped up BIG TIME on defence during the Chiefs 1st try, Kurt Coleman missed some sitters at goal, Juan de Jongh ran straight into people the whole afternoon and could not get his offloads going, Schreuder was so-so till he copped an accidental knee on the head and was off concussed and then Nic Groom farked up big time, time after time.

Damian de Allende started like a house on fire, then faded after 25 minutes and just became worse and worse as the game wore on.

    @ grootblousmile:
That does not sound good. One would’ve hoped for a much better performance by the players since they are going to rest next weekend before they go on tour. But I guess it is what it is. Not a train smash, after all it is the Chiefs that they lost against. But they will have to work hard in the next 5 weeks.

Koch is really stepping up. I hope Smal will sign him permanently.

    191 @ Nama:
Sonny Bill Williams also was monstered a number of times, the first biggie by Vincent Koch himself… and Sonny Bill had to go to the Concussion Bin because of the perfectly legal tackle. When he came back he was never the same again, he copped some more big hits and eventually knocked a few balls as he was so nervous in receiving passes.

If one nails him well, you take his threat out of the game completely. The rest of the Chiefs backline was fantastic though!

35 The number of offloads by Sonny Bill Williams (13), Sam Cane (8), Damian McKenzie and Bryce Heem (7); with all four being in the top ten of this category – with SBW ranked top of the pops.

  • 194

More worrying here is the missed tackles…

43 The combined clean breaks (15) and defenders beaten (28) the Chiefs recorded against the Stormers from 108 carries, the best such conversion rate from any team so far in 2015.

9 Number of tackles missed by Chiefs in 99 attempted, compared to 28 missed from 86 to the Stormers.

11 Number of breaks made by Chiefs wing James Lowe, three more than any other player.

35 The number of offloads by Sonny Bill Williams (13), Sam Cane (8), Damian McKenzie and Bryce Heem (7); with all four being in the top ten of this category – with SBW ranked top of the pops.

I was lucky enough to attend the Chiefs practice last week at a local club and the differences between they way they practice and the way our teams practice are astounding.

Furthermore what an amazing bunch of guys none of the arrogance you often see with local big names. It’s easy to see why the are passing the Crusaders on the local popularity stakes.

  • 196

Rennie and Smith… one of the great coaching partnerships….To come up with a rookie back three playing like that is a job well done

  • 197

    @ Te Rangatira:

What a great bunch of guys.

    @ gunther:
Hi Gunther…The Chiefs look like they made an impression on you. I’ve never seen them train or been around them at anytime but what I’ve seen on tv they come across as a well balanced bunch of blokes. Their team spirit comes across when they play.

  • 199

    @ Te Rangatira:

I enjoyed their love for the game their attitude towards each other as well as the local club side that trained with them.

I was also massively impressed by the way they trained we have a LOT of catching up to do in that department.
