Seeing ground staff flattening the turf with a sledgehammer in order to replace the smashed stumps (which looked somewhat far apart to my armchair eye), reminds me of Pat Symcox batting in India, taking a swipe but missing the ball & the ball passing between 2 stumps without touching the stumps or dislodging the bails …
That was a comical case of ground staff (or umpire?) inefficiency (or god forbid, cheating?) having the undesired result 😆
I had never before (nor since) seen such a thing …
