The Crusaders appear set to be without Willi Heinz for the Super Rugby season after the scrumhalf fractured his leg in a trial against the Highlanders on Saturday.
Last year’s beaten finallists fell 29-26 in Timaru, however the scoreboard will be of little concern to Todd Blackadder’s troops, whose depth will to be tested ahead of their season-opening clash against the Rebels on 14 February.
The news got even for worse for the Crusaders with new midfield recruit, 24-year-old Jone Macilai leaving the field with a suspected broken arm.
Abbott nearly gets the wicket…
Blomme need an absolute perler from Abbot, to take the wicket
Russell wins it with a final 6…
That’s it. Russel clobbers Abbott over his head for another big 6.
Windies win it by 1 wicket with 9 balls left.
Congrats to them.
Another full toss
Did the Blomme choke.. or do they just not have the death bowling to close tight ones out?
ODI series now 3 / 1 in favour of SA… 1 more ODI to come.
.we needed this loss
66 @ MacroBull:
Klink amper soos een van Ludeke se verskonings… hehehe
Proteas: “We did not execute properly”… hahaha
Well, it seems as if I spoke too early when I said that it is all over for the Windies earlier. Russel played a gem of an innings here…64 from 40 balls.
Our death bowling was weighed and they came up short. They had about 50 runs to defend with just 2 wickets left and the Windies were able to pull through.
The dropped catch by AB… Phangi bowling the 48th over…probably the 2 mistakes that cost us in the end.
@ grootblousmile:
Wel dis nie n verskoning nie.
Ab het n paar taktiese foute begaan soos nama genoem het en ons kon ook nie die KO punch gee toe hulle op die toue was nie, russel was goed nie eers die umpire kon ons red nie.
It’s these close games which always sinks the Blomme.
Unfortunately I suspect we WILL find some close ones in the Cricket World Cup!
@ Nama:
Add to that the no balls/wides which added 20 runs to the Windies total.

That’s really bad

Yip, 22 extras… not good!
We all know that the Proteas are above average because of AB, Amla and Steyn.
2 thirds of what makes us successful wasn’t playing today, so is it any surprise that we lost?
72 @ MacroBull:
Hang jy nou nog bal by die Lughawe… is jou vlug vertraag, of wat?
@ grootblousmile:
Absolutely GBS.
We will encounter a few of them and I wonder if we have the mental strength to win them. It seems as if we are great in overpowering our opponents and beat them easily on certain days but when the going gets tough, the tough gets the jitters.
@ grootblousmile:
Ja fok delayed indefinitely.

According to you 😈
Enige nuus van die naweek se rugby? Met nuus bedoel ek wie is nou weer beseer?
78 @ MacroBull:
True, in my opinion.
The rest of the team without them are world beaters, as we saw today.
@ nortie:
Hehe im just teasing. I agree with you, maybe even QdK will add a bit of value to this team. And millers recent form. The rest of the guys were like a bunch of deer in headlights when we got kicked at the last cwc
@ MacroBull:
Yep, Quinton can become world class, and Miller showed today what he can do with enough time and willingness to take the responsibility, great innings.
Our batting isn’t the problem though, we don’t have bowlers, bar Steyn.
Heaven help us when we must rely on Parnell and co. to win us games
@ nortie:
We rely on ab and amla but its good that qdk and miller are there. They dont have THOSE scars. Batting is a problem though we have been terrible in finishing the innings in aus as well.
Tahir will be key imo
Tjorts fellas… let me go attend where I need to attend.
Handbriekie is home and we are expecting the rest back very, very soon.
Have a good one!
@ nortie:
One would’ve expected Morkel to take the lead in the bowling attack as the most senior bowler but alas. Apart from a great 1st over, he was again quick but predictable. No cricket nous with this guy.
The Windies needed 24 runs in the last 3 overs. I know hindsight is an exact science but I can’t help but wonder what would’ve happened if AB gave the 48th & 49th over to Morkel and Abbot. He had by then already resigned himself to the fact that we needed to bowl them out to win the game.
@ Nama:
Morkel’s bowling is like Gayle’s batting…..once every 10 games they might produce something special and win a game, the other 9 times they are just plain shit and liabilities.
@ Nama:
And should ab have lot him self in a situation where pangiso bowls 2 of f The Last 5 overs
