Emirates Lions Head Coach Johan Ackermann, and Lions (Vodacom Cup) Coach Russel Winter have named their respective extended squads for this weekend’s warm up matches against a NWU-Pukke XV and a Leopards XV respectively.
It appears that a “mix and match” approach has been taken as both squads include a mixture of both experienced Super Rugby, Currie Cup and junior players.

Interesting mixes and combinations in both squads.
Also interesting that the “Super Rugby” team are playing Pukke.
Jeeez, I have a heap of Rugby News to put up… today is one of those days where I wish I was twins!
Too few hands, eyes and ears today and jockeying a heap of stuff simultaneously!
VERY disturbing that the head coach chooses to name his own son, fresh out of high school in the “Super Rugby” group after a “stellar” first class carreer.
A “touch” of nepotism creeping in at Emirates Park?????
Interesting to note that the Lions play in Red and White, are sponsored by Emirates, play at Emirates Park and have Huawei as an associate sponsor.
English football team Arsenal play in Red and White, are sponsored by Emirates, play at the Emirates Stadium and have Huawei as an associate sponsor.
PLEASE Lions Rugby (PTY) LTD, don’t bring in a Frenchman as head coach.
@ Scrumdown:
Lol
A difference between the two clubs is that Arsenal won a Cup last season in comparison to the Lions who stumbled at the last hurdle 🙂
I am not an Arsenal supporter but just saying.

Just seemed a bit of a massive coinsidence as I sat and watched the gunners demolish that West Midlands rabble yesterday whilst consuming a number of Zamaleks during happy hour at my local.
@ Scrumdown:
#3 Hi Scrumdown ja you poaching Lions taking yet another Blue Bulls player from us. Loftus is a fantastic nursery for you Lions, players coaches you name it. It’s a pleasure, well not really
7 @ Bullscot:
Well he IS our coach’s SON.
The fact that he bought a few of his igh school team mates is a bonus!
@ Scrumdown:
Ja true the similarity is remarkable he looks just like a mini Johan Ackermann. Him and his school mates will fit in quite well there as they have recent experience of being losing finalists
