    @ Nama:
#359 Hi Nama don’t forget Boks beat mighty World champions no 1 team in world All Blacks, think it was something like only their 2nd defeat in 45 games… Tounge-Out

  • 363

    @ Bullscot:
Hehe yep at a stage over the last three years beating the al blacks is al that mattered 😀

  • 364

    353 @ Snoek:
You summed up that post very well Snoek……I even started believing the kenners and picked the Argies yesterday (much to the dismay of Bullscott)
At least Bully has the last laugh today….well done on your team Bully

    And I can’t understand Hougaard………..

He has got the game plan tattooed on his arms and he still can’t get it right

What makes this loss more worrying is the way NZ defeated England….they managed to come from behind, the weather conditions were 100 times worse when the heavy rain started……yet at one stage they managed to take the ball through 22 phases in those dire conditions

  • 367

    @ MacroBok:

  • 368

    @ Nama:
Plumtree is, sover as ek kan onthou, terug NZ toe…dink hy gaan die Canes se hulpafrigter wees in SR.

Even though we dominated the forward exchanges, taking line outs and scrummimg well, it shouldn’t come as such a big surprise that those stats alone doesn’t always equate to victory…..just ask the Lions how that worked for them in the CC final

  • 370

“South Africa must learn from their 29-15 defeat to Ireland and show character when they play England in the second of their November tests next weekend, said Springboks coach Heyneke Meyer.”

Wonder what happened to all the “character” that we were building in our narrow wins during the midyear tests and against the Argies. I happen to recall that “building character” was the buzzword back then.

  • 371

    @ nortie:
    Orraait…dankie. Nie daarvan geweet nie.

  • 372

    @ Nama:

  • 373

    @ nortie:
Ja, dit het my gehelp om my geelkeps versameling aan te vul. Wink

Ons bly in SA. Miskien is ons “character” alweer gesteel nou moet ons oor begin bou. Pondering

  • 374

@ nortie: they are simply a better team than the Boks Nortie. That unfortunately is the inarguable fact. Boks are the master of inconsistency. The AB’s the exact opposite. We can beat them on our day. But 9 times out of 10, they’ll take us out. Even if its by a narrow margin of only one point.

  • 375

    373 @ Nama:

  • 376

    @ Tassies:
Yep….and Nigel wasn’t too kind on them….that yellow Coles copped was a joke.

  • 377

    @ nortie:
Daai geelkaart was rerig ‘n bleddie grap.

TMO: I recommend ‘n penalty against 2, black.
Nigel: So, you say a penalty against 2, black and a yellow card?
TMO: No, just a penalty against 2, black.
Nigel: So, I’m going with a penalty against 2, black and 10 minutes in the bin. Do you agree?
TMO: OK. I’m fine with that.

  • 378

Rugby is not just about winning the set pieces. Sure they are important. BUT….if you don’t have players in key positions making good decisions and executing well then the forwards can do all they like and you’ll lose. Just like we did yesterday. I was always told; the 10 is the most important player on the field. But if he gets poor ball, then he cannot be expected to deliver. This is where No 9 comes into play. Look no further.

  • 379

    377 @ Nama:
Yep….die TMO het tot op n stadium gese ” no, that’s not my recommendation” toe Nigel se geelkaart

  • 380

@ nortie: Note: Strauss cops a yellow and apparently we lose momentum and this costs us the game. Conversely, Coles cops a yellow and the AB’s gain momentum and proceed to win the game. Now where have I seen this movie before?

  • 381

@ nortie: yes I heard that too. Poor decision IMHO. But it didn’t affect the result did it? The AB’s can play with 14 and still beat all opposition, including ourselves. = No 1 team in the world.

  • 382

    380 @ Tassies:
    😆
    Deja vu?
One constant at both yellow cards were the crowd shouting “off off off”
Now where have we also seen the crowd swaying the ref into a decision that we Saffas loved?
Not so nice when the shoe is on the other foot 😆
Must be an useless ref then

  • 383

Ruan had a very good game the other day. We won the Test. Hougie also enjoyed a good outing against the AB’s at Ellis Park and we won that one too.
Now what does this tell us?

  • 384

@ nortie: so on the money Nortie. I’ve seen it at Newlands often. Even been part of the act. Having now grown up a little, I often wonder how much pressure the refs operate under. I read Jonny Kaplan’s book recently and I have to say, I found it highly insightful. Absolutely brilliant read. 9.5 out of 10.

  • 385

    384 @ Tassies:
Is a very good book……have you read John Mitchell’s book yet?
I also enjoyed that one very much

  • 386

@ Nama: ja, absolutely. Pathetic indeed. He’d made up his mind. That said; I do rate Nigel and enjoy the way he handles his games.

  • 387

    @ Tassies:
Also rates him highly, especially his communication in explaining his decision. That said, his handling of the Coles incident was pathetic in my view.

  • 388

@ nortie: nope. I’ll take your word on it bud and invest in same.
I absolutely love reading great rugby and cricket books. I’ve probably read several dozen in my time.

  • 389

@ Nama: Kaplan and now Joubert do the same. Both were/are very good. Its such a pleasure. Its a huge skill to perform this job. Not the easiest.

  • 390

    388 @ Tassies:
So do I, have about 300 in my biography collection…..that said, the Kiwis have the best rugby biographies and the Aussies the best cricket….they don’t mollycoddle and obscure the facts, there’s more meat in their books than bones.
Would love to get hold of Robbie Deans’ book and would also enjoy reading the new book by KP
