English club Bath are reportedly setting their sights on signing Springbok and Stormers No 8 Duane Vermeulen after next year’s Rugby World Cup.
The 28-year-old has been instrumental for the Springboks this season and was recently also shortlisted as an IRB World Rugby Player of the year nominee.
According to the Express.co.uk website, Bath are lining up Vermeulen as a second marquee player alongside Wallaby scrumhalf Will Genia.

The deal, which would be worth £ 450 000 (about R 7.8 Million) per season, would make him the second-highest earner in the Premiership behind new rugby league recruit Sam Burgess.
Other players nominated alongside Vermeulen for the IRB World Rugby Player of the year are his compatriot Willie le Roux, Ireland’s Jonathan Sexton, and All Blacks Brodie Retallick and Julian Savea.
Next year’s Rugby World Cup, to be staged in England and Wales, runs from 18 September to 31 October.
@ Angostura:
Glass half full 😀
The Long Run consists of a a series of Short Runs
By taking care of each successive Short Run, one gets to the conclusion of the Long Run
But, yes, we did learn something today
But will it be taken to heart?
No experimentation from the boks other that the already failed coenie experiment… No idea what meyer and “puff diddy” are doing.

57 Hi Cane.Are you a masochist?
I am quite fond of Bakkies, but his anti NZ comments were way over
the top.

They’l have to fall in with us, not we fall in with them… nothing will change, not here, not in MY stance!

Simple answer… NO!

What did we learn?

That’s good work.
You need to keep it simple with Cane.

We learnt yet again that it is highly unlikely that we will win the wc next year.
I see Bath denies the Vermiljoen rumours!
@ robzim:
Are you speaking as an Australian or a South African?
😆
Usual Protea problem.
As soon as they realise the game can be won, they implode.
Don’t think Miller is the answer at 6. Great when the balls pitched up but not at all convincing square of the wicket when the balls pitched short.

They must bring Robbie P back into the team and get rid of the worst fielder who is currently playing ODI’s. Big Vern has also showed yet again he is useless on a flat track.
Btw. Have you seen this Sybrand Engelbrecht dude in action in the field. I reckon he is the best fielder in SA if not in the world at the moment.
@ Jeraldjay:
He’s nowhere how many more chances must he get.
Who else is there?
@ robzim:
Airpunch?
Really?
@ gunther:
Hash, De Kock, Faf, Rossouw, AB, Duminy.
@ Jeraldjay:
Roussow looked no better.
He couldn’t even hit the ball of the farking square.
😆
@ gunther:
We basically farked at 6 with no big hitter in the mould of a Klusener/Kuiper type of player.
Maybe Levi can slot in.
Yes, we don’t have a middle order and if Amla or AB don’t save us, we are set for a loss, but what about the bowlers?
We can’t just blame the batsmen every time….Morkel had his one decent bowling spell for the next two years last week, and the rest don’t mean a toss unless it’s test cricket
