Western Province have reacted quickly to a drunken episode in Bloemfontein at the weekend, following their 34-29 victory over the Cheetahs.
Centre Jaco Taute is believed to have over-indulged in the fruits of the vine and went on a rampage that included harassing hotel guests as well as breaking a computer in the hotel’s lobby.
On Thursday, WP Media Manager Howard Kahn, said that the incident had been investigated and the necessary steps were taken.

“We are aware of the allegations against our player,” Kahn said, without disclosing any details of the incident.
“A disciplinary committee, consisting of the Director of Rugby, head coach and manager, conducted a full investigation into the matter – which we do not take lightly – and the player has been heavily punished and dealt with internally.
“We have also been in touch with the hotel and anyone who might have been in the vicinity; apologies have been issued and accepted by all parties. We are satisfied that the matter has been properly dealt with and that finality has been reached,” he added.
Taute joins the ranks of Kurtley Beale, Aaron Cruden and other bad boys of the game who ended up in hot water after being unable to control the limits of their alcohol intake.
