It is not the Currie Cup of old when the country’s finest talent played and domestic rivalries were of Test match proportions.
The competition will always be romanced because of its history but like the Bulls of this year, history must not be confused with reality. Super Rugby – and not the Currie Cup – is the measure of SA’s provincial strength.
The Currie Cup allows us to feel good about our rugby, whereas Super Rugby’s too frequent failures lets us feel disheartened. Enjoy Saturday because this is one final a New Zealand team can’t win.

Julle manne is darem ongenaakbaar teenoor julle span! 😀

How can the fact that the Lions WILL win the final (according to you) be a positive for the Bulls?
I know you are desperate to find something positive to say about the Bulls but i think you are stretching it a bit too far in this instance or you are allowing the grapes that are clearly very sour to get the better of you.
606: ja, ek is baie suur, suurder as ‘n suurlemoen, hehe.
@ Angostura:
Julle moenie als so ernstig vat nie 😆
@ Ben-die-Bul:
😆 PROOOOOOOOOOOOOvince
@ MacroBlouBul:
You guys will have a massive team in the U/21 final – I don’t think PRO(vince) will be able to assist us 😉

Hey Hondo… just to show you how glibly you hand out ‘facts’ and opinions as truth…
and for anyone who still believes you actually know what you’re talking about…

The ARU is a powerful Union financially, and enjoys the backing of their Gov
If they decides that JW gives them the best chance to make the RWC Semis, they will pull no stops to get him
They did the same recently with the SR Final (Joubert, remember the ‘apology’ to the Crusaders?) and the 1st Test vs the ABs (Peyper, remember that ‘apology’ to Hansen?)
Simple
Speaking on Channel Nine’s The Today Show, Farr-Jones believes Pulver will be having second thoughts about his decision to try and save the cash-strapped ARU when he signed on as chief executive in January 2013.
“I think if Bill had have understood the predicament that rugby finds itself in, particularly the financial woes, I don’t think he would’ve put his hand up for the job,” said Farr-Jones.

didnt we bring in a bunch of seniors into the u21 team last year and we still lost?
@ MacroBlouBul:
Yes you did and I’m hoping for more of the same but IMO the Bulls will be better prepared than last year.
The only potential problem is that for some guys it is difficult to play at the same level of intensity when they “move down a league” – and some of the guys that played many of the league matches will now have to be dropped to make way for the senior players.
I know you want your best players on the park but it isn’t always in the best interest of the team’s unity – that’s just my opinion of course.
@ charlesm:
I agree 100%. id prefer the guys who got the team there to play.
Right eventually am out of mourning and able to say congrats WP on beating us Not actually been in mourning all this time just enjoying some time away, taking forever to type this on tablet, catch up later in week.
Think it’s time the Bulls merge with the Lions, we need less of these minnows that don’t reach finals and last played good rugby in the previous decade
Now let me go hang my PROvince jersey on a pink hanger and get outa here
