A dispute between the Blue Bulls Rugby Union’s top brass and its ex-players union is threatening to escalate.
According to reports, there is dissatisfaction among the ex-players about the union’s plans to “write the ex-players union out of the union’s constitution”.
Former Springbok and Bulls captain Wynand Claassen is the chairperson of the ex-players union.
The Blue Bulls Rugby Union is set to approve the new constitution which would see the ex-players union have no say whatsoever on the union’s executive committee.

The new constitution will be discussed at a meeting on Monday night. Claassen said they will oppose the new proposal.
While there are rumblings in the Blue Bulls boardroom, on the field things are also looking bleak, with the Bulls having lost their first two ABSA Currie Cup games by heavy margins. They got hammered 41-13 by the Lions in Round 1 before Western Province embarrassed them 41-17 at Newlands this past weekend.
“There is unhappiness about what’s happening on the field. We (the ex-players) want to play a supporting role and we’re not here to drive a negative agenda. The team’s current form justifies the concern out there,” said Claassen.
The Vodacom Blue Bulls received further bad news when it was revealed that flyhalf Jacques-Louis Potgieter has been ruled out of rugby for at least four weeks following a rib injury.
According to Blue Bulls team doctor, Org Strauss, the flyhalf suffered a rib dislocation in the team’s match against Western Province in Cape Town.
Meanwhile, prop Morné Mellett, who underwent a scope on his knee last week, has been ruled out for four weeks as well.
Strauss confirmed that flyhalf Tian Schoeman has recovered from injury though and will be fit for selection against the EP Kings at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday.
Dean Greyling (calf), Jurgen Visser (toe), Akona Ndungane (Achilles) and Lohan Jacobs (flu) will only train on Tuesday.
Bjorn Basson will be available next week.
Pierre Spies, Flip van der Merwe, Arno Botha, Frik Kirsten and Jaco Visagie remain long term casualties.
Eish, panic is now running deep in my Union!!
Not good, not good at all!
Do something about the farking rugby chaps, do not stand there with your fingers up your butt and the other hand pointing fingers in a boardroom!!
Fire Xander Janse van Rensburg, fire Frans Ludeke if needs be, appoint another bloody oke in charge if needs be… but something will have to change there and drastically so.
On the positive side though, the Bulls are clearly unhappy with the current state of affairs and are not just standing around.
The first step to recovery is to know you need to change….
A palace coup.
I shall bring my portable guillotine.
Rock Science will feel the cooling fires of the revolution.
Seen on Planet Rugby: Three lucky fans will win TEN TICKETS EACH to Saturday’s Currie Cup clash between the Blue Bulls and EP Kings at Loftus Versfeld.
I suppose second prize is TWENTY TICKETS EACH?
The intended changes are with the BBRU and NOT the BBC. The BBC controls the professional rugby, therefore the intended changes will have no influence on the current BB teams.
So- start at the basics again.

My hart is seer man…….SEER se ek vir julle
Maar my bloed bly steeds BLOU ! !

As hy lucky is.
Almal kla so oor Paige en Hatting.
@ superBul:
I actually feel your pain guys… we have been there done that and got the T-shirt…
There is such a fine line between success and failure… A new broom might be needed… I hope it happens sooner rather than later… finger pointing will not change the situation.
…at least I have the Bulls to win a close one this weekend…
Vasbyt…
does anyone (apart from the diehard bulle) actually give a shyte?
all unions go through bad times.
what goes around comes around.
Kyk wat stuur Nortie vir my!
@ grootblousmile:
He certainly has a lot of time on his hands that one.
😆
@ Charo:
The problem is going on now for the 4th currie cup
… in a row
not good to see the bulls in disarray… hope they get the stuff together… and quickly too…
appoint big vic to sort it all out like the sharks appointed john smit…
Too much discontent about nothing really
This is just the CC competition, which has been relegated last few years into a Quota show case, results mean very little to most 😆
2015 SR season is the last one where SA teams will compete against NZ and Aus teams, so that would be the one which counts!
I feel the Bulls supporters. The Lions went through this when we lost all our games under Dick Muir. Then there was the clean out n the boardroom, but even then, many bad things happened, with things finally looking better for the Lions. Hang in there Bulletjies, things can and will change.
19 @ Hondo:
You mean next year is our year? 😀
All the nice words does not inspire me. If Barend van Graan feels you guys are right i would personally drive to Pretoria to tie the noose around his neck.
Bulls as far as my memory stretch has never, and i mean it NEVER been without a major cup for 5 years since the WP had that 5 in a row.
We simply dont take it lightly, we do not sit and wait it out. I will never ever accept a 10 or 12 year drought, as it is only a miracle will swing it our way in the next 2 years
@ MacroBok:

I believe so,
so long as the Bulls keep ‘The Trevor’ off the field and assign Matfield to the old age home, they will come righ

Too many weaknesses I am afraid
