We have a number of subscribers with serious music appreciation, even the WP Moffies form Cape Town, seem to know some cool music!
So, for a Tuesday evening’s pleasure, we will discuss music… and comedy!
Rugby takes a backseat tonight as the clan gathers…
Read the rules below carefully, or you WILL get burnt!
Here’s how it works:
- Before you are allowed to greet, comment or take part in general discussion about anything else, you enter the PUB with a lekker Music Video found on Youtube.
- You copy the URL (web address) of the clip… and you make sure it is NOT the Mobile version of the URL (the Mobile version has an “m” in the beginnig of the URL somewhere).
- You Paste the URL into the Comment Box here and SUBMIT your comment.
- Your video will appear in the Comments section.
- If you fail with your attempt and it does not appear, we WILL kak you out… and LAUGH at you, you silly muppit!
- Now you can take part in the discussion and add more music, but beware, every broken link will cop you an “Uitkak” and a laugh at your expense.
- Failure to abide by the rules, will be punished by requiring you to say a seriously denigrating thing about the Provincial / Club side you support and asking all of us, by name for forgiveness and acknowledging our clear superiority.
- Most important rule: Nobody is allowed to get angry… this is all in good fun!
Fire away!

Van hom gehou en ook van John Candy
Planes, Trains and Automobiles, classic
211 @ Blue Bird:
Hi Blue Bird, ahh sorry I missed that, do listen to Radio 2 now and then, shhh don’t say it to loud it will give age group in away.
225 @ nortierd:
So good.
I remember watching that on TV a long time ago, we were just mesmerized by Brian May for two hours.
@ leon:
@224
Brilliant song… The Hi Fi salesmen during the 80’s used that song to sell their “hardware” as the sound was so good. for the time.
The song that introduced me to The Eagles.
@ robzim:
Actually Paul Jones was with Manfred Man (way before my time) !!
Flok, nobody has answered whether they like PUB NIGHT!
Come on, all scream at once!
Say Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
@ robzim:
Howzit Rob. All good bud.
Yes. You’re right. Can only be Pipeline. Only one wave looks like that. And responsible for some classic wipeouts. Spectacular.
@ robzim@245:
Yea, and how older you get how more you see how true that song is.
244 @ MacroBok:
He is out of this world, just watching that clip again shows he is a magician with a guitar in his hands.
@ Tassies:
Did you enjoy the surfing video on the Waterboys track?
I think you and Rob must have nerves of steel to play about in waves like that…..!!
@ grootblousmile: not bad GB. Not to damn bad. You’re allowed to do it again.

Those 2 were just about the best on the album imo too…
I saw this performance by Dave Mathews in CT at Grant west about a year ago when he did a “tribute” to the man who was so famous in SA… the crowd went mad and the rest of Dave’s band was stunned by their reaction as Americans do not really know how big it was here
254 @ Tassies:
Fok, now that was tame… eish!
One of my all time favorites.
Alphaville
@ grootblousmile:
It was awesome GBS 🙂
90’s South African music ftw… unfortunately no video…
@ Blue Bird: Rob maybe BB. Not any more for this lad. There is a spot down here where the waves can sometimes reach the size of those monsters. Its called Outer Kom. On a big day one could drive a double decker bus through the tube without getting your feet wet. Massive. Perfect tubes. Up to 25 ft on a big day. We hit the shore and the big wave riders paddled out.
257 @ Nama:
Hi Nama, now that is a good one
Because he is more of a singer, we tend to forget what this fellow can do behind a set of drums
259 @ leon:
Will do it again… it is gooooood!
255 @ robzim:
Hi robzim, not heard that cover before, I really enjoy Just Jinjer’s cover of Sugerman
@ robzim:
Did you watch Sugar Man?
What a brilliant doccie, when he walked out at the Bellville Velodrome, goose flesh
Blue Bird wrote:
Its not the same bloke.. the John Paul Jones who plays with Seasick Steve was the bassist from Led Zep and I doubt whether he would have played for Manfred Mann. Manfred Mann is originally from South Africa can you believe it. And their best song ever (Mighty Quinn) was written by the best singer songwriter ever… Yes.. the one u don’t like… Bobby Z. 🙂
Sugarman Rodriguez was not really known here in 70’s.
Played a few festivals in Britain last year but the general consensus was that he had seen ‘Better Days’!!
Come on Te Rangatira & Jeraldjaywalker… join in!
@ robzim: Am I right Rob? Dave Matthews was/is a South African. Transvaal raised I think.
