Cell C Sharks CEO John Smit says Director of Rugby Jake White won’t be actively involved with the union’s Currie Cup side.
White coached the Sharks’ Super Rugby side, but their Currie Cup team will be coached by Brad MacLeod-Henderson, with Paul Anthony and Sean Everitt as assistants.
Smith told the Sharks’ official website that White will be focusing on other areas at the union during the Currie Cup.

“Jake will spend some time with the Academy, look at the structures and how it works, and how it could work better. He’ll also spend a fair amount of time with the Under-19 and Under-21 squads. He will be a jack-of-all-trades for this season I guess but he will spend little to no time with Currie Cup squad.”
“He’s also already busy selecting a 2015 Super Rugby squad and will be working with them and putting together a conditioning programme. He will be away from the nitty-gritty of blowing the whistle, but he will have quite a lot of work still to do.”
The defending champions start their Currie Cup campaign against Griquas in Kimberley on Saturday 9 August.
Geez. With the amount of hairloss White has had over the last month, I’m not freeking surprised he won’t be involved.
He looks more like a sour old man by the day.(Or does the media only take phot’s of him when he’s having a “bad hair day”? (Or should that read “no hair day”?))
Anyway, I’m sure that between Pinky (John Smit?) and the Brain (JW) they have other more important things to do during the Currie Cup, like plotting to take over the world.
Shouldn’t the headline read:
“No Currie Cup for Jake, Shark fin soup will have to do”?
Still can’t believe his son is a hooker in Durbs, staight out of Bishop’s ….
Just joking Jake, congrats on the youngster’s selection! Hope he makes you proud
