BAMPOWAt least half of the SA Schools rugby squad will feature players of colour in a move to implement quotas at schools level for the first time, according to reports on Sunday.

The SA Rugby Union (SARU) had instructed 14 of the 28 member team be drawn from black, coloured or Indian players.

According to sources, it would be the first time quotas were officially enforced at schools level.

The news comes after the SA School trials were held in Kempton Park on Saturday, where 55 school rugby players were competing for the 28 spots in the team.

South Africa are scheduled to play Under 18 teams from England in Stellenbosch, France in Cape Town and Wales in George, during August.

Slap in the face… and what a farce.

The key word is ” officially”
It’s been done unofficially for a while now, so nothing has changed really

    No suprise really.

Why should sport be different to anything else in SA?

Good thing my kids suck at Rugby.

Still a terrible indictment of reverse racism in our “free” country

Jeeez, it’s about time someone works Jurie Roux & Oregan Hoskins out of SARU… the one chop is more pathetic than the other.

Wonder how far the criminal investigation has progressed / been investigated against Jurie Roux, in relation to the Stellenbosh scandal… and if it will ever get it’s true justice in our Legal System?

The perpetuation of this type of needless shit gives one a very kak taste in the mouth!

Engineering or trying to engineer representation on the grounds of race or colour in rugby is so wrong on so many levels, whilst the true evolvement, upliftment, development of grass roots rugby in areas that were peviously untapped gets far too little attention.

For goodness sakes, address the availability of facilities and equipment in all areas first. Address the cultivation of rugby in schools environments… all over… and the natural talents will rise by themselves.

There is NO NEED for engineering, there is no need for discrimination based on any colour! There is NO JUSTIFICATION for discrimination based on colour!
