The FIFA Football World Cup 2014 is well underway in Brazil.
The Group Stages are already done and dusted, only 16 Teams remain…. well only 12 after this weekend!
In the knock-out stages, there are no 2nd chances, you lose and you go home. You win and you live to fight another day!
The Games start out on Monday with France vs Nigeria and thereafter Germany vs Algeria, both on Monday 30 June.
On Tuesday 1 July it is Argentina vs Switserland and Belgium vs USA.
The Quarter-finals start on 4 July 2014.
All of the games are live on TV in SA on SS3 HD, SS3 & Maximo.
@ robzim:
Zoomer doesn’t have time for that kak.
He’s too busy worrying about the ph level in his “firepool”.
@ Nama:
@ 89
He might gain a few local fans , lol.
This game should be good… The Belgiums have more class but the USA can certainly not be underestimated..
Lets home we get a result in regular time…..
I see the two teams are very close on the world rankings.
Belgium at no. 11 and the USA at no. 13. Not that it will mean much in the context of what happened during the SWC already.
@ robzim:
Just as you predicted. This game is off to a fast start. Hope they’ll keep it up.
I remember Marcus Beasley making his debut at the WC as a teenager. His speed was his greatest weapon. Seems like a hundred years ago.
@ grootblousmile:
Ja, awesome stuff.. specially ” Dock of the Bay”… love that song.
This one takes me back to my days at school, big reggae era!
Imagine…
To close to the keeper by Dempsey.
What a chance for Belgium. Sending the keeper the wrong way but putting it wide.
Farkin hell, that was a good trip down memory lane!
Music just soothes the sole!
My man, Beasley, clearing off the line. USA under pressure the last while.

This shows what a tough job the refs have, that’s you and I seeing the same incident with the benefit of slow motion replays and we come to different conclusions yet he gets one chance to see it and that’s at full speed.
De Bruyne, Belgium no. 7, is one of the stand out players in the 1st half.
0-0 half time
Belgium dominating most of the first half but could not convert their advantage into a goal… old fox Jurgen Klinsmann does not seem overly concerned, maybe he has a few aces up his sleeve.
@ robzim:
How many times have we seen this. The one team dominates but fail to convert any of their chances only for the other team to score and win the match.
Howard beaten but it’s off the cross bar.
Then a save by Howard.
Another strike from distance not on target.
Belgium is really putting the hammer down now.
@ Nama:
Yip… in this game it is not so easy to drive the advantage down as in rugby.
If the Belgiums had a striker like Messi, Rodriques, Suarez etc playing for them they would have had at least 2 goals by now
In all the other aspects of the game they are very well covered… just seem to lack the finishing touches.
Another close shave for the USA. Just past the upright. Belgium getting closer and closer.
I still fancy the US to score a break away goal and win 1-0
@ robzim:
Jip. I was also thinking along that line. About them having a world class striker. It would’ve been over by now with all the chances they’ve created.
Another strike at goal by Belgium.
Are the USA defenders getting tired?
Another clear cut chance for Belgium going a begging via a great save by Howard.
Another good save by Howard
Another chance blocked by Besler.
Another save by Howard.
Side netting by Belgium.
Vincent K so close
Another great chance. Saved by Howard.
End to end stuff here.
