The Blue Bulls Company (Pty) Ltd is pleased to announce the signings of Adriaan Strauss, Trevor Nyakane, Pieter Labuschagne and Jamba Ulengo. All three forwards will join the Vodacom Bulls on November 1st, 2014, while Ulengo has already started training with the Vodacom Blue Bulls.
Springbok hooker Strauss, who captained the Toyota Cheetahs in recent seasons, was South Africa’s Vodacom Super Rugby Player of the Year in 2013 and returns to Loftus Versfeld, where he made his Vodacom Super Rugby career in 2006 after a seven year absence. He has signed a two year deal.
Blue Bulls Media Release
Strauss was a member of the Vodacom Blue Bulls squad that shared the Absa Currie Cup in 2006 and the Toyota Free State side that won it the next year. He became a Springbok in 2008 and has played 34 times for South Africa (with 5 tries). He is also the Toyota Cheetahs’ most experienced player with 97 caps, (added to the eight Vodacom Bulls caps).
Springbok prop Nyakane has signed with the Vodacom Bulls and Vodacom Blue Bulls till October 2017, Springbok squad member Labuschagne signed till the end of October 2016 as did Springbok Sevens flyer Ulengo.
The 25 year old Nyakane, who was first spotted as a youngster playing for the Limpopo Blue Bulls at Craven Week, made his provincial debut for the Toyota Free State in 2011, his Vodacom Super Rugby debut for the Toyota Cheetahs in 2012 and his Springbok debut in 2013. He has played four tests and scored one try in his international career this far.
Pretoria-born Labuschagne also came through the ranks at the Free State, having represented the union at school boy, junior and senior level, as well as playing Vodacom Super Rugby for the central franchise. The 25-year old was part of the Springbok training group in 2013, but injuries in 2014 prevented him from pushing for higher honours.
Ulengo was a regular on the IRB Sevens World Series circuit, having played for the Springbok Sevens team since 2012. He is also a former Toyota Free State age group and Absa Currie Cup player.
BBC’s High Performance manager, Xander Janse van Rensburg also confirmed the extension of their current contracts of the Kriel twins, Dan and Jesse, till 2016.
“We are pretty excited about these signings as all of them are proven performers at the highest level,” Janse van Rensburg said.
“These players are all very keen to share in our vision of becoming the number one team in both Super Rugby and Currie Cup and to help us achieving those milestones. These are important and significant signings, as they show that we are still seen as a pathway to international honours and the winning of tournaments and cups by established, as well as emerging players,” Janse van Rensburg said.
“The decision of Adriaan to join us will not also add depth to our hooking position, but with his extensive role as captain, will also provide fantastic leadership and solid international experience.”
Vodacom Bulls and Vodacom Blue Bulls head coach Frans Ludeke was also very pleased to have them on board.
“We believe all of these guys will contribute significantly to our effort and vision to be a team of excellence. They will also add to potential shortcomings we have identified in our structures and I am looking forward working with players of their calibre.”

Where did the Bulls get the cash?
Have they gone and culled a heap of talented youngsters again? Such is their ‘sign and dump’ wont these days.
I have a comemaratiive tie (das) from the 1990 Currie Cup final.
I was thinking of raffling it for a worthy cause here on RT, but I doubt there are enough Sharks’ supporters left to reach the reserve, and I doubt whether any Bulls’ supporters will bid seeing that they lost the game.

They are already spending all the yen they are expecting to get for Spies’ transfer fee

Fit in or fARK off.
That’s our motto
That’s why we have 3 Super Rugby Titles and you have fuckall except for a hollow feeling in the pit of your stomach and a pile of crumpled betting slips fighting for bin space next to your tear soaked tissues.

Bulls got the cash from all the players that left last year, they have been signing youngsters for years now, it didnt all of a sudden start this year after a bunch of Super Rugby champions left loftus to go and win other european titles as well 😀
Gentlemen, time to hit the (not so) long and winding road from BloooBulllsVille back to the Lions infested plains of the East Rand.
I desperately need to finish my design for a Bulls (OK cattle) slaughterhouse so that i can send out some invoices that will allow me to pour a little gravy onto the dry pap that I am forced to feed my emaciated children.
Was a jolly good time chatting today.
Cheers all.

Well the Sharks started it by stealing John Smit from the Bulls.

Give them eggs with their pap.
That’s what we had growing up.
I never even knew what a chop looked like until I saw my first Bruce Lee movie at the Bioscope.
