The Commonwealth Games was underway and the first Rugby games of these games were on Saturday 26 July 2014.
All games were played at Ibrox Stadium in Glasgow.
South Africa won the Gold Medal, New Zealand the Silver, Australia the Bronze!
Before the Final of these Games, New Zealand had not lost a single Commonwealth Games Sevens game… well, that record no longer stands.
The new Commonwealth Games Gold Medal Champions are South Africa’s Blitzbokke… for 4 more years!
It was a tough and physical Final, and New Zealand still deserve their plaudits for being the premier Sevens side in World Rugby.

Kyle not looking good

Yes, I keep having to jump stations too
My impression of seeing the teams today was that BlitzBokke were very good playing with a lot of pace, NZ didn’t seem as impressive but tended to play with more power than pace
New Zealand so physical and bloody good at the breakdowns….
Collar bone?
Kyle Brown off, subbed
171 000 is the number of folk they say have been to the 7s this weekend, spread over 4 separate sessions
Flok, NZ penalty…
New Zealand scores first, under the sticks… like bulldozers
NZ so wily. Holding all the Bokke on the floor after that last play, and thus couldn’t get back to defend
Ahhh there you go NZ have been saving themselves for this Gold medal match, doing just what they need to win their earlier matches, COME ON BLITZBOKKE!
New Zealand 7 / 0 Blitzbokke

Interviews with a lot of the players have said that this is one of the best tournaments they have played in. The crowds have been brilliant.

Sorry, a young girl. She was brilliant
Yellow for NZ… kicking the ball away
Now is our chance. We must use it
SA seeming a bit hesitant in this game, not as fluid as earlier
Eish, NZ mannaging to harry the Blitzbokke off the ball…
We’re like deer in headlights. Chokers tag may well rear it’s ugly head soon
Come on Bokkies!
All of a sudden, we can’t even do the simple things properly
That’s better
YES SENATLA!
Tryyyyyyyyyy Senatla!
New Zealand 7 / 7 Blitzbokke
Lemoenetyd
Cameraman desperately tries to find a pretty SA female in the crowd to focus on after the try!! 🙂
Jeeez, New Zealand gets away with a lot of foul stuff…. but as they say, play the ref….
2nd Half of this all-important game ON!
Good work
Come now Bokkies, show that grit we want!
