The Commonwealth Games was underway and the first Rugby games of these games were on Saturday 26 July 2014.
All games were played at Ibrox Stadium in Glasgow.
South Africa won the Gold Medal, New Zealand the Silver, Australia the Bronze!
Before the Final of these Games, New Zealand had not lost a single Commonwealth Games Sevens game… well, that record no longer stands.
The new Commonwealth Games Gold Medal Champions are South Africa’s Blitzbokke… for 4 more years!
It was a tough and physical Final, and New Zealand still deserve their plaudits for being the premier Sevens side in World Rugby.

@ dWeePer:
Not to worry, I’m just teasing Norty!!!
π
Thank you Blitzies, thank you very much!
Just what the doctor ordered after the Christchurch fkup by the Sharks, all us rugby supporters needed this golden moment in Glasgow!
Well Neil and the boys
NZINCHINA reminds me a bit of their scrummie Bachop after WC 1995, looked as if he had just been kissed open-mouthed haasbek by Suzy..such sour losers some times, those supporters from from “The Land of the Silver Medal”
@ grootblousmile:
He was taking pleasure in seeing the faces of the beaten NZ team rather than the great victory that it was for SA, you were fine with that I wasn’t. I’ve tried to talk rugby with you a few times about “the weak AB tight five” you told me I had know idea what I was talking about. 37 from 38 says they aren’t weak I’m still waiting for you to tell me the exact weaknesses in the AB tight 5.
He started it..
π
Aitog!
@ gunther:
You were telling Nama he couldn’t pick for shite, which way are you going for the RC. It can’t be that difficult you’re a self-proclaimed expert on most things so give it a shot.
333 @ NZINCHINA:
How old are you, 11… or is it an immature 14?
@ NZINCHINA:
In going for the Bok win and you to end up blogging from “Everest” again you big baby.
π
@ grootblousmile:
Groot, if I say we’ll beat you in the RC comfortably that’s arrogance, if I mention disliking someone taking pleasure from seeing the faces of a beaten sports team that’s childish, if I ask you to tell me where the exact weakness in the AB pack is ” I have no idea what i’m talking about”.
Fair enough.
@ gunther:
That’s the spirit son.
Far too PC around here.
340 @ NZINCHINA:
Maybe we’re just far too grown-up for you here… now scoot along, sonny boy!
I said to you before, you reason like a mathematical compass… all around your own hole. You don’t see reason, you look to pick a fight. You see your own argument and nothing else.
… and then there is the childishness…
The direction to go for South Africa’s rugby has now established!
It’s the Blitzbokke and Women Rugby where the Republic excelled in! π
Let’s drop the Test and Super Rugby teams, they only brings us consternation and aggravations
LET’S GO FOR OUR STRENGTHS!
π π π
I’m worried about Caner.
I haven’t seen him since his lads went down like the Belgrano.
Probably searching for the food poisoning angle.
π
Well done to our Blitzies…!! Awesome stuff… and made us all very proud…
Great to see them playing with that sort of intensity for a whole tournament… Neil got the guys well drilled and motivated big time… Let’s hope they keep this up going forwards.
Great to have Seabelo in Cape Town…! The kid’s pretty quick and defends well too…
Also good to see Cornal playing with such authority and confidence.
In fact… good to see everyone step up like they did…!
@ ufo: Howzit boet. As you say, awesome win. Olympics here we come!
Also great to see Senatla in such good form, he will get some game time in the CC for sure!
gunther wrote:
….or the Sheffield π
@ Stormersboy:
Always good bud… How you been doing…?
Yeah… will be good to see Seabelo playing at Newlands…
Any definitive news yet on the CC coach…? After Thelo saying Gert was still sorting it out, haven’t heard anything… except AC talk about the season as if he has already been appointed… Leaving it a bit late to not appoint AC unfortunately…
We should get RT’s new rugby journo to track down some answers for us…!! π
@ ufo:
Haha I recon we should.
Just watched the Commonwealth Sevens Final again… this time much less tense… they boys did us proud!

Taking this comment at face value makes me see someone praising SA and being a good loser.

In this comment I see a bad winner.
Don’t know about the ‘history’ and not interested, only referring to these particular ones, but if one is expected to not be a sore loser then you also need to be a gracious winner.
Gold for Cameron vd Burg.
Jipieee…

Only just… he nearly got caught over the last 10 m after a very quick start … in the 100m’s he seized up over the last 25 and I was worried it might happen again.
Very good swim though… lets hope Chad can do the same a bit later.
@ robzim:
Yes, it was very close in the end but fortunately for us, he was able to hold on.
Great we can compete together in rugby, cricket and the Commonwealth Games!! π
Chad le Clos about to swim. Here’s hoping for another gold.
GOLD…
Well done Le Clos. Brilliant swim by the Sharkie.
It’s raining gold medals for SA tonight. We are up to 4th on the medals stand atm.
Nama wrote:
He is in a different league as a sportsman as any shark rugby player, in fact, it seems as if he is from another planet in comparison to them.
Brilliant by Le Clos, I predicted that we could move up to 4th place last night, and we just have. Hope we can stay there.
@ robzim:
@ Just For Kicks:
Not sure we will but it would be nice if we can do that.
