ChiefsSuper Rugby resumes following the June Test window with the first of three straight New Zealand derby matches for the Chiefs, and they certainly know what’s at stake.

The first of these matches is against the Highlanders at Forsyth Barr Stadium on Friday night and head coach Dave Rennie knows his team cannot afford another slip.

“This is a massive game and we have prepared really well,” he said.

“We realise the importance of this fixture and from here on in every match is like a play-off.”

Augustine Pulu makes his Super Rugby comeback after a recent knee procedure and is joined by Robbie Fruean who will make his long-awaited return in a Chiefs jersey.

Both players have already experienced some club rugby before making their return at Super Rugby level this Friday evening.

Gareth Anscombe starts at fullback with Tevita Koloamatangi, Tawera Kerr-Barlow, Tim Nanai-Williams and James Lowe new additions to the bench.
