congrats baby bokke, good luck in the final.

No “choking” with that kick…he used the first miss to gauge distance, trajectory and wind factor

said it earlier, not converting our chances in the first half will cost us this game and so they did, ref was poor for both sides.

  • 273

Pollard has not lost against the Baby Blacks yet…. in 3 years!

    Commisserations with your loss.

One plays the ref, and what he allows, that’s what the All Blacks senior side ALWAYS does, commended by you lot, for doing so, so I dn’t see any reason to moan, by you or us.

The ref made mistakes both ways.

In the last 10 minutes the ref missed a very lazy Baby Blacks runner too, think it was a prop… that should have been a kickable penalty to the Bokke.

    @ nga puhi:
Thx my man, good to hook up with you again, as always.

  • 283

    @ nga puhi:
well, from my view the baby blacks spent the rest of the game playing like that, couple of strange offside calls also going against the boks, the all blacks played the maul well but the boks were doing nothing wrong, as the baby blacks completely left them alone.

Was a great game, the bokkies won because after being completely dominated the first half they were only 5 points behind without really breaking a sweat.

Was the wrong tactics, but it worked well in the last game, we kicked at them but monstered them in defense, today there were a few holes, in the second half we adapted.

The Springboks/Bokkies will play the kicking game till the cows come home from their own half, its been like that for at least 11 years now.

  • 288

Hard to believe some of those boys are u/20. Some serious beef among them.

  • 289

Fark, I was worried about the hurdle for the Bokkies, these Baby Blacks…. now we are over it, and the 2nd strongest side remains, England, between the Bokkies and the title!

No it has been so since Bennie Osler. I’ve got nothing against the idea of playing the game in oppositions half. It is the farkin box kick that annoys me. Especially if they persist with it when they have a player like Mackenzie who keep on catching it and putting team mates in space.

They overdid it and more importantly went for up and under’s when they should have gone for the corners. A stab through kick in space is sometimes a lot more beneficial or effective than a up and under.

    291 @ mikeybrass:
The Bokkies showed very mature composure and guts.

1st half was not good, Bokkies were bad on defence, very bad.

When Lloyd Greeff was replaced, the Baby Blacks seemed unsure where to attack, if not on his side, and the Bokkies defence immediately improved, ten-fold.

England look pretty good against Ireland. Big pack and some good running amongst backs and forwards. Nice handling skills. They might be harder to beat than the baby blacks.

    @ McLook:
We really overdid it, but Mackenzie was exceptional today and could well be the man of the match.

There were a few cases where we had a good attacking chance where Smith unfortunately kicked the ball away, but knowing when to do what will come with experience for a 19 year old (Hopefully).

I think we went for the up and unders down the middle of the field to keep the ball away from the wings as much as possible.

  • 296

    Bokkies scored 22 / 10 in the 2nd half…. 3 tries against 1 try in that 2nd half.

Soos jy weet, was daai game in die middel van ons nag hier in SA, so ek het dit nie gesien nie… ek moet ook maar so nou en dan slaap…. hehehehe

Ja, dit gaan nie maklik wees teen Engeland nie!

By the way, wat het jy gister van die senior Springbokke / Wallis game gedink?

Yip they did well containing that no11. I would have liked to see some more variation with the tactical kicking. They dominated us at the rucks in the first half and the box kicks with Mackenzie running at us didn’t help. Some grubber kicks along the side line by the no9 or some staff throughs by Pollard is some options that were never tried.

Anyway easy to sit on the sideline and be clever. Just happy we won.

  • 299

    @ McLook:
Yes it is difficult, the baby blacks tried a few grubbers to big failures, we also forced many lineouts in their 22 with kicks in the corners. And those wings ripped us to threads when they got the ball.

We just need to make sure we keep our defensive lines when we are chasing. and when the ball goes too high we need players infront of, under and behind the ball for all scenarios.

Our weak defense in the first half really put us under pressure
