Date: Sunday 8 June
Venue: BBVA Compass Stadium, Houston
Kick-Off: 02:30 SA Time (01:30 BST, 00:30 GMT)
Taylor is down as play continues with Scotland in possession but ref blows for penalty to US, think it was for offside
Duncan Taylor not looking happy as he pulled up while he stepped when he was running, hopefully its just cramp
No official water break in this game as USA didn’t agree to do it ahead of the game, but players taking a lot of fluid on during the injury break. Max Evans on for the injured Taylor and Kieron Low for Strokosch 63rd min
Tuisamoa on for lock Stanfill for US. Scrum being given to Scotland, scrum reset
Free kick to US for early pushing in scrum by Scotland as they take play into Scotland 22 but a knock on by US winger and Scotland use the advantage to good effect and clear their line as Maitland at first tidied up after the US knock on, play on 10m line
Superb try Stuart Hogg who takes the high kick well out of the air in Scotland half and sprints down the left hand side touch line to score, nice work from the Scotland fullback.
USA 6/24 Scotland – super conversion from near the touchline by Laidlaw – 68th min
Scotland get lineout on their 22 which they secure and maul it up and earn a penalty as US collapse it, still in Scotland half
Scotland lineout after the penalty on halfway
Another penalty to Scotland for US off their feet as sloppy ball from lineout went far back for Scotland, touch by Finn Russell just outside US 22
Nice period of interplay in Scotland backline now with the forwards but USA get a penalty for Scotland holding on in tackle, Wyles boots it into touch for US lineout
Nice run by Scotland’s Jackson but then he knocked it on once he was tackled
Scrum to USA just inside their 10m area 76th min, been a disappointing stop start 2nd half and its a penalty to USA for another early push by Scotland 2nd time in the game they have been pinged by that. Kick out by US but they lose the lineout
Blood all over Clever’s face going off for treatment to a cut above his left eye
Ref having to tell Clever to go off field for treatment, will need stitches must be game over for him with only a few min left in the game
London a back on for Clever and a lot of shuffling going on as Clever’s place at flank needs to be taken, looks like very quick treatment for Clever as they are putting a bandage on – about 1 min left
Scotland get penalty at scrum, pulled down by USA, very tired looking scrum and Russell puts it out just inside USA 10m line for lineout
Clever back on for the lineout and London off, the US fullback Scully took Clever’s place for a bit
Scotland take it up with forward then get penalty in USA 22, game ends with a knock on.
That’s it, all in all a disappointing 2nd half.
Final Score: USA 6/24 Scotland
Still 2nd half in other match – Canada 25/17 Japan
Stuart Hogg being interviewed speaking about being good to be back after little game time of late and praising new coach Vern Cotter and looking ahead to the World Cup with these games being a trial for that for the players, praised the US for their defence hitting Scotland back often when they were trying to attack.
Still 2nd half, looks like a tight game in Canada – Canada 25/24 Japan
Good night folks as it’s starting to get light here

Final score in that game Japan 34/25 Canada

Hello nortierd thanks for that result, not had chance yet to go online elsewhere to look for it yet. That is a very good result result for Japan, seems Eddie Jones is doing a good job there. And the commentators on the USA Scotland game who were quite critical of Scotland were saying Canada was a better team than USA, mmmm on the evidence on the results maybe not.
@ nortierd:
I see that Canada Japan game was a Pacific nations cup game.
From the IRB: “Japan produced a marvellous second half performance to beat hosts Canada 34-25 in the opening round of Pacific Nations Cup 2014.
Trailing 25-9 at the break, Japan belatedly found the rhythm that had won them a record seven matches in a row to score 25 unanswered points in the second half and begin their PNC campaign in style.
The victory in Burnaby, British Columbia continued the Brave Blossoms’ recent good record against Canada and puts them top of the embryonic Pacific Nations Cup table following Samoa and Tonga’s 18-18 draw some 24 hours earlier. “
Canada and Japan scored 3 tries each, all 3 of Canada’s tries came in first half while Japan’s 3 tries all came in 2nd half, to use and old cheesy saying “Guess it was a game of two halves”
