28 Unanswered points by the Bulls, after a sloppy start…

One would have expected more from the Bulls though, considering they were playing against such an injury-riddled team as the Stormers.

Stormers, a “Las-lappie” team, who tried hard all game, promised much early on, then faded badly.

    @ nortierd:

Yes, it’s quite a poor team… as portrayed by their 15th position on the log.

Positives are that they were at least trying to play some decent rugby… the 2 new locks were ok, de Jongh and de Allende were very good… Coleman was ok…. Groome not too bad.

    I have some hope…..

    Paul 😛

    Classy speech by big Vic.

  • 275

This guy is going to play some huge rugby fark me

On stormers side, Juan de Jongh, Damian de Allende, Schalk Burger & Duane Vermeulen had great games…

On the Bulls side, Jan Serfontein was strong and bloody good at stealing ground ball for a centre, Pollard had a good game, so did Hougie and I thought Grant Hattingh had his best game at No 8 of all the games he started at No 8. Jurgen Visser was rock solid tonight and Paul Willemse (who is Man Of The Match) was very good.

Some of the old work horses, like Akona Ndungane and Dean Greyling were solid and methodical.

Bulls struggled at times at the breakdown ball situations.. ascribed to both Jacques du Plessis and of course Jono Ross not functioning that well in an unbalanced loose trio.

Agree, it’s good to see some positive rugby, but they play positive in patches, after a good exciting start, we reverted to a Bull type game, against the Bulls at Loftus. That’s just plain stupid.
    The Bulls schooled them today

  • 278

Folks, remember the Reds / Crusaders game in the morning at 08:05 SA Time!

  • 279

    @ nortierd:

Yes, we started brilliantly but as u said we were eventually schooled and that is what counts.

I can tell you now already that we are going to beat the western force next week though 🙂

  • 280

    @ robzim:
The Bulls though did extremely well, those first twenty minutes we were attacking, and conceded two turnovers and we were 12 points down, it was not like the stormers were on continuous attack those first twenty minutes. The Bulls then tightened up their attack brilliantly.

I thought so, now after this display, not so sure.
Will depend if we have a ref who will actually find in our favor every now and again within kicking distance and which players are available

  • 282

Was just difficult for the Stormers to play with basically a knew forwards pack.

  • 283

    @ MacroBull:

They are a very dangerous team at fortress Loftus… got to lift their game when playing away from home though… it seems to be as if all SA teams have this problem….

  • 284

    @ robzim:
Exactly its all our teams, it is just emphasized with the bulls because they do so well at home.

On the Stormers it is a two way street, People should either decide if they want the stormers to win or play exciting rugby, I’m sure they could easily revert back to the 2012 game and be ultra competitive, or go back to “traditional” rugby pre 2012 and go up and down on the log each year.

    Winning is everything.

    Stormers vs Force at Newlands
    Referee: Chris Pollock (New Zealand)
Assistant referees: Marius Jonker (South Africa), Quinton Immelman (South Africa)
Television match official: Shaun Veldsman (South Africa)

    Force by a small margin?
They are playing well, Stormers are useless.
Gave them the benefit of doubt today and hoped for a miracle.
Bastards cost me a GSP, screw ’em
    😆

  • 287

    @ 284

    @ MacroBull:

I guess they have to find the right balance…. an all out “swing the ball ” approach as in the Carel and Michael du Plessis era is never going to work again in this era of organised defences… Toetie and Gert will have to think hard… bottom line is however that they have to find a decent flyhalf and hooker before they can even think of winning throphies

  • 288

    286 @ nortierd:
Well, the Stormers / Force game could go one of 2 ways… either the Force will rip the Stormers a new oriface or 2 or I think the Stormers will win well, I do not think it will be an inbetween game….

  • 289

    @ 286

    @ nortierd:

Lol… i do not do superbru this year but provide free “advice” to 2 friends who are gullible enough to believe i have a clue 🙂

The flippin Cheetahs cost me and them today.

  • 290

Well done Bulls – you out thought and outplayed the Stormers.

I have a feeling you might just catch the front runners… 😆 The only SA team winning once again, yet I think the Lions were very unlucky…

    Enjoy the evening guys…

  • 291

Missed the margins by 1 point!
There was no point to watch that game if I predicted the Bulls by 15, my opinion is vindicated 😉
It seemed the Stormers ran out of gas in the 2nd half, or it could be that Craig started tightening the screw on the Stormers’ forward passing?
    No idea really

  • 292

It seemed that except the die hard Stormers’ supporters, the majority of the followers gave up ?
Similar to the Lions 12 years ago when one name Van Rooyan took over the Union and it never been the same again.
Club rugby could get some boost now?

  • 293

    @ robzim:
We can talk about balance all we want, but the Sharks, if they manage to get home playoffs could well go on and maybe win this year with their same boring as fark gameplan… If they dont the supporters will complain ala stormers 2012, but if they win Jake White will be the greatest durbanite wince tony watson.

  • 294

    @ Hondo:

Nope… they have not given up… the stands at newlands will be a bit emptier next week but most likely still fuller than at any of the other big stadiums.

I think people are in general a bit fed up with superrugby… too much of the same…

Personally I am looking forward to the soccer world cup… that and the Tour de France will be my Sport viewing highlights for the year … rugby world cup in England next year will be massive too…. superrugby has become stale

  • 295

    @ MacroBull:

That is true… i am no fan of Jake ( never been) but he does not use that boring game plan for fun… fact is it does work for most of the time… but heaven forbids him receiving the freedom of Durbs…

  • 296

    @ robzim:
The highlights showed an empty Loftus, must be the new reality of SA rugby
For me the Soccer WC is a No No, last (and first) I watched was the 1990, courtesy of that guy Bahamgie, last soccer I watched was 2001 Liverpool vs Arsenal with Fowler and Owen
The refereeing sub standards render that sport unwatchable for me.

  • 297

    @ Hondo:

oh well, u have some point… i can also not understand why a sport as massive as soccer do not make use of at least some technology…. maybe the attention span of the average fan is not long enough to wait for TV Refs decisions…. mind you, taking into consideration the fark ups tv refs make in rugby the football authorities might have a point…

Robbie Fowler and Michael Owen… now u are talking.. they could play a bit..

The Dutch to win the world cup 2014? …. what is the odds?

  • 298

    @ Hondo:
Holy fcuk, Hondo. Raak jy nie vokken skaam nie. Hou nou ‘n slag op met jou kak. Dis nie meer eens snaaks nie.

You last watch soccer in 1990 because of corruption. No mention of the (white) guy who fled to the USA when his collaboration with Bhamjee to defraud TOPSPORT came into the light. What was his name again? Nel…Snyman of iets. I’m sure you know.

You also don’t watch cricket anymore because of the apparent “fraud” within the game, yet you tell us week after week how the referees in rugby have to adhere to predetermined results as decided in the boardroom.

Why do you still watch rugby, Hondo?

  • 299

    Delport!
Wat was die man se naam? Drie jaar Amerika toe gevlug voordat hy teruggekom het en homself oorgegee het. Come now Hondo. Who was Bhamjee’s partner?

  • 300

    @ robzim:
The Dutch will never win any big tournament again…ever.

Reason: Their clubs develop youngsters only to sell them off to the bigger clubs in Europe. The same thing that will happen to our rugby afa the S15 is concerned. This open policy of ours will bite us in our arses.

Just look to see where Brazil is ranked in soccer now.
