Super RugbyIt is Round 16 of Super Rugby 2014 this weekend, the last Round before the June Test Break! We have 7 games in Round 16, with 2 game on Friday and 5 games on Saturday.

The Toyota Cheetahs have a BYE weekend.

In June / July 2014 the Antipodian teams will catch up in played games with the South African counterparts, when the South African sides sit out for 1 Round.

The Combined Log will therefore be skewed for the majority of the competition and one has to question why individual countries are allowed to start such a long competition ahead of it’s rivals. In 2013 the Australian sides started a week early, but at least they had the excuse that they needed an extra week in the middle of the year to prepare for the British & Irish Lions series, which they lost.

  • 4

One more game before the June tests. Then fingers crossed no injuries here or in the Tests.

    GO SHARKS! Happy-Grin

  • 5

We also get Lambie back after the June tests for the Cheetahs game. Or if not we will have Fred back. But read Lambie is doing reall well with his bicep injury and should be back for that game.

  • 6

Good, so Steyn is fit, that means he can play in the tests as well.
    Sure HM is relieved

  • 7

    5 @ Puma:

    meant = really .. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

  • 8

lol jake just likes giving everyone the middle finger, that’s why he will never coach SA again.

  • 9

The chess game between Jacob and Heyneke continuous.

  • 10

Sharks team thread is up, exactly the team I forecast on SW

  • 11

    @ nortierd:
hey Mapoisa, you try to hard hahaha

  • 12

Let’s see if I understand this scenario correct.

White feels it’s fine to risk Steyn for another week against the wooden spoonists in a nothing game that they will easily win, but in doing so he is willing to risk the player so that he can’t play for the National side?

It’s not as if they are playing one of the better teams or front runners.

At least everybody can see where the loyalty lies, and if I were HM I would not pick Steyn for my Bok team ever again if he plays this weekend, but shuns Bok duty afterwards.

No Sharkie, you guys really have this backward.
The Sharks are not more important than the Bokke, and should never be.
No franchise trumps the national side, that’s reserved for soccer

  • 14

    8 @ MacroBull:

Jakey knows a thing or two that is why he is one of the best coaches this country has EVER had as Bok coach. We have had only
3 since we came back from isolation. Kitch, Mallett and Jake. All three of them took no nonsense.

Remember Jake’s Boks pumped the All. Blacks in his very first year as Bok coach at Ellis Park. 45 – 25 with a young team. We in SArate ourselves against the All Blackcno one else. He also won us a world cup.

Jake is no fool as a coach he is one of the very best out there. Go read Tony Johonson’s article on SP . It sums up Jake there really talking about my team.

  • 15

    @ nortierd:
Boet how come the Stormers are not resting their Boks?

Come now, do you have any ideas how much the SR trophy means and how much money is won by the team? why should they throw that all away because the IRB are to useless to plan properly?

You should rather point your anger and hatred at the right people, most experts on twitter have said exactly this, this whole break now in SR is pathetic, all that has been done so far and all that has been spent must go to waste?

Seriously dude I repeat, if the Bulls and Stormers were in the position the Sharks are in they WOULD NOT, be taking chances and resting their Boks!!!

  • 16

    14 @ Puma:

Sorry for typos on my iPad outside with the builders back doing a few snags.

  • 17

There is definitely something fishy going on in this whole situation.

  • 18

    @ nortierd:
And you know full well nor Puma nor I put or would put the Sharks ahead of Springbok rugby, but the way rugby seasons are being setup are a disgrace. You think McCaw is being rested by the Saders now? NO he is playing.

  • 19

    3 @ Puma:

    Notice my mistake there.

    new = knew

  • 20

    15
White is under no obligation to rest his players, he can select them week in and week out, that’s his choice and good for the Sharks to keep winning.
But, then, it’s ludicrous to expect the Bok coach not to pick the best players because they now need a rest.
Point is, if they fit enough to play SR, they fit enough to play tests, and if they get injured somewhere along the line, don’t blame the National coach, that’s all

  • 21

    @ Puma:
Jake is busy fighting a battle at two fronts, if you believe he is 100% committed to the Sharks effort you are mistaken.

  • 22

    @ MacroBull:
Nothing fishy, Sharks pay their players and are entitled to use them, simple really.

You are sounding like some of the Sharks supporters on SW where there is always a theory of soughts, if JW plays Botes ahead of Kanko? it is because Kanko is out of favour, so I wonder what their theory is this week as Kanko is still there and Botes who played well last week I might add is out of the squad?

  • 23

    @ Sharks_forever:
Mccaw was rested the first half of the season.

  • 24

    @15
By the way, where does anger and hatred come in to what I said?
Are you advocating that it’s ok for a player to choose franchise over Bok rugby, just because he is one of yours?
Seriously, this is a debate and conversation, don’t put words or feelings in my mouth, there is no hatred in any of these posts.

  • 25

    18 @ Sharks_forever:

For sure boet. It is this damn daft format. Why they never made one tourney finish before going into tests was plain stupid. SR should be completed before heading into test rugby. The format has been a mess from the start and the nest one in 2016 is even worse.

Go read Tony Johson’s article on SP he also thinks the tesrs come at a wrong tme during this touerney. And he is a kiwi and All Black supporter.

  • 26

    22 @ Sharks_forever:
I read that haha was hilarious.

Good Jacque Botes is getting a rest, might I add that earlier this season Jake was praised because finally Kanko can play with some freedom etc…

  • 27

Ignore typos just can’t type on this damn thing without making any.. Angry

  • 28

Nortie, no where has JW said HM canot pick Sharks players. @ nortierd:

  • 29

    @ Puma:
Seriously Puma, don’t worry about typos. We may not agree with you, but we know what your saying ๐Ÿ™‚

  • 30

    @ MacroBull:
๐Ÿ˜† exactly MB, according to some there , there is a sinister reason why Daniel and Kanko are not starting,
