Western Province Vodacom Cup coach John Dobson is in England to learn skills from rugby league side Wigan and union team Northampton.
Dobson paid for the two-week trip himself but has informed the union’s Director of Rugby, Gert Smal, about it.

Dobson said he wanted to learn how they do things in rugby league, especially about controlling the ball in contact, offloading and defence.
Dobson will take over the coaching duties of WP’s Currie Cup team from Allister Coetzee, so the latter can focus solely on his job as Stormers coach during the Super Rugby competition.
However, Smal is yet to indicate who will coach WP during the Currie Cup.
Dobson, a former coach of the UCT Ikeys, won the Vodacom Cup with WP in 2012 and also coached the union’s Under-21 team to Currie Cup success last year.
So I have to ask myself, as well as anyone who gives a shit, “WHY MUST HE PAY FOR IT HIMSELF?”
SARU / WP development budget all been diverted to the CEO of SARU’s private bank account?

Vark. Puma come type for me please.
Was meant to say “SARU’s CEO’s privatebank account?”.
But I guess you all got the drift?
GBS, second paragraph has a typo’. (Dodson should read Dobson.)
Gosh that’s weird that he pays for it himself.
