The veteran tighthead has inked a deal committing him to the All Blacks and Super Rugby club, the Crusaders, until 2017, the New Zealand Rugby Union said.

“It’s great news that we have someone of Owen’s standing in the game re-signing – not only for the Crusaders but for the All Blacks as well,” All Blacks coach Steve Hansen said.

“He’s a world-class player who brings a real physicality to his position.”

Franks, 26, has played 54 Tests for the All Blacks since making his debut in 2009, including their World Cup win over France in 2011.
