New Lions JerseyVox Telecom, a leading South African telecoms provider, has signed an associate / extended sponsorship agreement with the Golden Lions Rugby Union (GLRU).

The agreement allows Vox Telecom one title sponsor game during the Super Rugby tournament and also gives the company branding rights for the remainder of the competition and Currie Cup.

For the Super Rugby game between the Lions and Crusaders at Ellis Park Stadium this weekend, the Vox Telecom logo will appear on the front of the Lions jersey and will, for the remainder of the season, appear on the right-hand chest of the jersey.

“Vox Telecom has been a technology partner to Lions Rugby for the last eight years, providing connectivity and telecoms services to the Golden Lions Rugby Union,” says Clayton Timcke Head of Marketing at Vox Telecom.

“The timing of this decision to enhance our involvement with Lions Rugby has been perfect. We’ve seen a young and determined Lions team once again claim the hearts and minds of its loyal supporters by winning four out of six games played. The value behind the Lions brand resonates incredibly well with Vox Telecom as an organisation that has fought its way into a strong position with a determination to lead the charge,” he adds.

GLRU Chief Executive Officer, Manie Booysen, expressed his gratitude towards Vox Telecom for its continued support and is looking forward to working with the company even more closely in the future. “Up until this point, we have had a healthy relationship with Vox Telecom and it is wonderful to have the company on board in an associate sponsor capacity,” Booysen shared.

“We believe that both our brands will benefit immensely from this partnership and we are grateful for Vox Telecom’s support during such testing economic times. We are looking forward to a prosperous relationship with them over the coming months.”

I know GBS will crucify me for this one, but its been a while since I published, and format has changed a bit. This is good news, but we do need a title sponsor.

    @ Lion4ever:

    Hahahaha

No need to crucify you… just a slight re-train needed!

Yes, great news for Acker and the boys, they have endured and overcome a lot of hardship and really deserve a good sponsor. Good luck Lions, go for it!!!

So I guess the Lions are playing in red jerseys so that when their captain bleeds his team mates can’t see the blood and they don’t panic and carry on fearlessly.
That explains why the Stormer’s are going to be playing in brown shorts from now on.

    @ Scrumdown:
Saw it on Facebook on the Golden Lions SR 2014 page, then on another site, and then I went to the Vox Telecom website, where I took the article from. Its now also on the Lions official website.

I still can’t open the Lions site, and neither can anyone at the client I do a lot of work for. Just hangs like a pair of blue testes from a bakkies towbar.
