Pay-channel SuperSport lodged a complaint against Cheika over a verbal confrontation he allegedly had with a cameraman.

It’s understood the cameraman was filming Cheika after he’d left the coach’s box and gone down to the sideline mid-match.

SANZAR referred the matter to a hearing in accordance with its disciplinary rules.

The hearing was due to take place on Wednesday, but will now be heard by via teleconference on Thursday, April 24 (09:30 SA time).

The application was considered and granted by judicial officer Nigel Hampton.

A press statement released by SANZAR on Wednesday read:

“In granting the application Mr Hampton acknowledged SANZAR and its witnesses were ready to proceed with the hearing today but the primary consideration was to ensure Mr Cheika’s legal representative the proper opportunity to prepare the case.

“SANZAR is eager to have the matter heard as soon as possible but did not oppose the application.

“No further comment will be made until this process has been completed.”
