Super Rugby strugglers, the Stormers, have confirmed the appointment of psychologist Henning Gericke.
Sport24
The man who worked with the Springboks when they won the 2007 Rugby World Cup, was set to help at the Stormers.
Gericke will on Tuesday join up with the Cape side on a consultancy basis.
Gericke is well renowned in his field and also worked with South Africa’s swimming team ahead of the 2012 Olympics, while also working with the Proteas cricket team in the past.
Gericke has a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Pretoria.
The Stormers are currently last on the overall Super Rugby log, having won only one out of seven games.
They tackle the Lions at Newlands on Saturday (17:05 kick-off).
The Stormers certainly need a head doctor at this juncture!!

Would prefer a head coach.
But then again, it’s the Brokies we are talking about, they get enough head in the showers after the match.
They simply will not fire the head coach mid season.
So with Gert joining and bringing in people like Henning is a definite positive.
The intent is there to make things better and that is encouraging for me

The head coach is most in need of a head doctor…
Yeah… I would rather fire the coach now… and use what’s left of the season to prepare for CC… and next SR season…
@UFO
On the plus side, I see he relegated Taute to the bench……on the negative side, he picked Grant at 15.
This shrink will have to go and see a shrink.
