Mark Keo was mos n groot WP fan?
Sien hy skryf hulle lekker af.

Anyone asked to pay to watch the Stormers for the remainder of the season should be charged half the price, writes MARK KEOHANE in his Business Day column.

In a month’s time I’ll probably write that anyone still going to Newlands should be given free entry.

It is a crime to charge people to watch what was on offer at the weekend. It is also a crime to appoint a director of rugby, who laments the dire state of the team’s approach and then says nothing will change until the end of the season for fear of confusing the players. Gert Smal should rather have said nothing on his appointment. All he did was further confuse the situation.

They were awful against a Tahs side that took a beating in Durban, yet their captain and coach spoke of positives.

The pleasantries are indicative of a team that has become comfortable and stale. They are all mates, both coaches and players. And now even the coaches and president are mates.

Grant is no longer good enough and in Coetzee’s tenure he hasn’t picked a flyhalf good enough to influence the outcome of a Super Rugby play-off match.

Teams who win Super Rugby possess game-changing halfbacks. The Stormers don’t have such a pairing this season and haven’t had these halfbacks since Coetzee took charge.

100% correct… supporters of the team have mentioned it for years but Toetie sees something in Grant that nobody else seems to notice. Same applied to Duvenhage and now also applies to Schreuder

Mark Keohane is a Bulls fan btw… he has mentioned it on many occasions..

Smal will on Monday meet with Stormers coaches – Allister Coetzee, Robbie Fleck and Matthew Proudfoot – to see how their systems are working.

Smal wants to have a look at the team’s scrums, lineouts, kick-offs, attack and their approach to the game in certain aspects.

Smal also emphasised that people may have a misconception that he wants to turn the Stormers into a run-at-all-costs type of team.

“I’m striving towards a perfect playing style, not one where we run from everywhere and throw silly passes,” Smal told Die Burger’s website.

I think if Keo was a stormer his article would be singing the praise of Gerts second coming, not reminding everyone of the 75 pointer before Gert left.

On the brightside, currently they are not running from anywhere, so its the ideal start?

    09h45 @ robzim:
Stormers / WP are where the Lions were when Prinsloo was our President.

If they don’t change the “old boys club” currently running Rugby in Cape Town, they’ll continue to sink.

The coffers full of money can only have an effect for so long.

This seasons results are a direct result of 5 years of neglect in fixing the top structures.

At the Lions it took us 3 years to get rid of the President who was indecisive and unprofessional, and it’s taken the “new” President (K de Klerk) nearly 5 years to weed out SOME (but not all) of the shyte that infested the organisation.

Gert Smal alone CANNOT change the fundamental faults that have infected the WP / Stormers internal organs. Those changes need to be initiated and driven by Rugby LOVERS WITHIN the WP structures, and even then it’s a long, drawn out issue.

    Good luck WP Rugby.

Stormers stand-in skipper Duane Vermeulen said despite the defeat he remained optimistic for the rest of the season.

“We had a good game plan and executed it well until half-time, but silly little errors during the second half proved our undoing,” said Vermeulen.

“When you’re on the back foot it’s hard to keep your hands down at the ruck.

“Just the second half, we couldn’t execute.

“There were slight errors, little small mistakes that crept in and that was our problem.”

The first step would be to get rid of Dr. Joseph Goebbels, his gameplan is outdated by now and everyone sees through it.
