Peter Horne can’t wait to get back on the field for his first start for Glasgow in nearly a year.
The centre suffered knee ligament damage playing for Scotland last June, but is fit again and starts in the huge PRO12 clash with Ulster at Scotstoun this evening.

Peter Horne said: “I am desperate to get back on the field. I did my anterior cruciate ligament on the summer tour of South Africa and this is just my third game back and my first start.
“It has been tough being out, especially as the boys have been doing well and getting good results. There has been a real buzz about the club and about training. It has been tough to be sidelined.
“But I have worked really hard to get back to this point and getting back into the side makes it all worthwhile.”
The Howe of Fife man added: “In the past couple of weeks I have got on towards the end of the game. I have been building along nicely.
“I feel as if I am ready to start a game and make a real positive impact for the team.
“I couldn’t have asked for a better time to come back into things. It is the business end of the season and big games are coming thick and fast. But we have got the momentum building nicely and all of the lads are training really hard to be a part of things. I will have to do well to keep my place.”
Glasgow are on a run of four wins on the trot but Peter knows a win against the Belfast-based side will not be easy.
He said: “Ulster are one of the toughest teams in the league and we will have to show them a lot of respect.
“We will certainly not take them lightly. They have been one of the best teams in the league for a couple of years now.
“They were superb in their Heineken Cup quarter-final against Saracens. They were one man down yet nearly came through to win it.
“They have tremendous runners in the backs and some big ball-carrying forwards.
“But our confidence is high at the moment. We have had a tough week in training. There has been no let up.”

Glasgow don’t go for posts but kick it out for lineout 6m out
Penalty to Glasgow after Ulster transgressed at the lineout
Glasgow maul from next lineout, over the line and they get the try, looked like Tommy Seymour
Glasgow 20/9 Ulster as Russell gets the conversion, super kick from a few metres inside left touchline – 50th min
Good kick by Ulster gets play deep into Glasgow 22, but its Glasgows lineout which they secure and Cusiter launches a high one
Good run by Muller as Ulster are looking slick with their passing, Bowe almost through a gap but eventually brought down and Glasgow get a penalty near their 22
Lineout for Glasgow a few metres inside Ulster half
Penalty Ulster, Glasgow not releasing on the ground and Jackson punts it out about 5m from Glasgow try line
Muller takes the lineout ball but it wasn’t in straight by Herring
Ulster came close to scoring then Glasgow get a good break away after a super tackle by Seymour who is limping now.
Jonny Gray and Dougie Hall subbed off – Nakarawa and MacArthur on in their place
Ulster scrum near right touchline just inside Glasgow 22 – 59th min
Tighthead prop Jon Welsh leaves the field with injury, replaced by Geoff Cross and now Ulster get a penalty from the scrum, they kick out close to tryline
Missed the play looks like a try for Ulster TMO looking at it
Not clear if Glasgow player got in under the ball before grounded
No try then a 5m scrum awarded to Ulster but now penalty to Ulster something Cross did and Ulster kick it straight out 5m lineout
Ulster no. 8 takes some stopping a BIG player
Great clearance by Glasgow who steal the ball and pass it out to player who kicks the ball out near 10m line
Ulster knock on so its scrum Glasgow in middle of field near Glasgow 10m line
Rob Harley sub on for Glasgow. Ulster just been told that as they have used all their subs that if they lose any players now they will just have to play with 14. Chris Fusaro is the man Harley came on for, nice game by Fusaro.
Finally Cusiter gets to feed the scrum
Strong Glasgow scrum push Ulster back and earn a penalty a few metres inside Glasgow half. Ball kicked out midway between Ulster 10m and 22.
Ulster need to bring a player on for front row problem but they can’t bring some one on until their is a scrum and then someone has to make way for the front rower sub
Glasgow deep in Ulster 22, nice break by Bennett who looks like he was stopped short, stretched for the line, don’t know if it was a try
In stretching to place Bennett on the ground under a few Ulster defenders didn’t get downward pressure and lost it forward.
TMO says its a try – was a great run from near Ulster 22 by Bennett who went on a mazey run and beat 2 defenders then was caught by two defenders of Ulster who tackled him down.
Glasgow Warriors 27/9 Ulster – Russell converted the ‘try’, Glasgow lucky as I didn’t think Bennett scored the try.
Glasgow are playing with a lot of confidence now and look to be going for the bonus point try, scrum near the halfway line put in for Ulster – 69th min
Not sure what’s gone on there but Ulster have just made a few subs, Muller one of them but they are only playing with 14.
Magic Matawalu came on as sub for Tommy Seymour. Ulster played for a while, now its a scrum midway between Glasgow 22 and 10m line for Glasgow but uncontested scrums.
