Peter Horne can’t wait to get back on the field for his first start for Glasgow in nearly a year.
The centre suffered knee ligament damage playing for Scotland last June, but is fit again and starts in the huge PRO12 clash with Ulster at Scotstoun this evening.

Peter Horne said: “I am desperate to get back on the field. I did my anterior cruciate ligament on the summer tour of South Africa and this is just my third game back and my first start.
“It has been tough being out, especially as the boys have been doing well and getting good results. There has been a real buzz about the club and about training. It has been tough to be sidelined.
“But I have worked really hard to get back to this point and getting back into the side makes it all worthwhile.”
The Howe of Fife man added: “In the past couple of weeks I have got on towards the end of the game. I have been building along nicely.
“I feel as if I am ready to start a game and make a real positive impact for the team.
“I couldn’t have asked for a better time to come back into things. It is the business end of the season and big games are coming thick and fast. But we have got the momentum building nicely and all of the lads are training really hard to be a part of things. I will have to do well to keep my place.”
Glasgow are on a run of four wins on the trot but Peter knows a win against the Belfast-based side will not be easy.
He said: “Ulster are one of the toughest teams in the league and we will have to show them a lot of respect.
“We will certainly not take them lightly. They have been one of the best teams in the league for a couple of years now.
“They were superb in their Heineken Cup quarter-final against Saracens. They were one man down yet nearly came through to win it.
“They have tremendous runners in the backs and some big ball-carrying forwards.
“But our confidence is high at the moment. We have had a tough week in training. There has been no let up.”

Hello all bit late with the scores for the rugby tonight. At Scotstoun we are in the 25th minute and Ulster have a kickable penalty, score so far Glasgow 3/3 Ulster
Easy one and Paddy Jackson slots it for Ulster; Glasgow Warriors 3/6 Ulster – 26th min
From the very little have seen so far it looks like Ulster are on top, full of running and its only scrambling defence by Glasgow that has the score as it is for now
Ulster player taking Cusiter out behind the ruck, crowd roars disapproval but ref doesn’t worry and play goes on
YELLOW CARD RYAN WILSON!
Penalty to Ulster in a kickable position not seen a replay yet with the Wilson incident but it looked like a high tackle
Glasgow Warriors 3/9 Ulster as Paddy Jackson slots the penalty – 29th min
Ulster win their lineout and launch a big up and under which Glasgow are running nicely with
Bit sloppy as Glasgow are being caught behind the advantage line and have lost ground and now get penalized but the touch judge has his flag out
Ref calling for TV replay of what happened, may be foul play by Ulster hooker Rob Herring
Tom Court the prop and Rob Herring look to have been naughty but nothing serious I think
Ref thinks its ok for Herring to have tried to have a go at a Glasgow player on the ground away from the ball doesn’t look like there was any punches but he still held him away from where play was going. Went back to original penalty to Ulster. Justice as it hit the post.
Bit of ping pong with the boot, eventually ends with Glasgow getting a lineout a few metres inside their half.
Nice chip over the top by Finn Russell but it gave possession back to Ulster who in turn give possession back to Glasgow, some nice driving play and now Glasgow have a penalty which they take to touch just outside Ulster 22.
That was a nice bit of ground gained by Jonny Gray before the penalty
Grinding it up with forwards are Glasgow into Ulster 22
Arghh Ulster rip the ball from Glasgow and relieve the pressure with a big kick downfield
Eventually it settles down to a scrum midway between Glasgow’s 22 and 10m line for a knock on, scrum to Glasgow. Ulster’s tighthead prop getting some attention. 37th min.
Boot came off now back on for tighthead prop of Ulster who is up again
SUPER BREAK BY MARK BENNETT took play from deep in Glasgow territory just ran out of support, Horne was there to take the speculative overhead but then it went dead as he ran out of support and Ulster got the ball out behind their try line!
Glasgow take a short lineout deep in Ulster 22
Strauss bulldozers forward, Maitland takes the contact instead of passing, it could have been a try if he passed
MAITLAND SCORES THE TRY EVENTUALLY
Nice ball presented by the forwards and then a nice little run and offload by Russell to Maitland who ran through to score. Russell converts the try.
Halftime – Glasgow Warriors 10/9 Ulster, what a good time for Glasgow to score as the half time whistle blew after the try was converted and they go in holding a slender lead.
There was a resounding victory for Leinster earlier this evening against Treviso.
Final Score: Leinster 62/7 Benetton Treviso. This keeps Leinster on top of the table as they got a try bonus point, scoring 9 tries in all!
Zane Kirchner played at right wing this evening for Leinster and scored a try.
Glasgow 13/9 Ulster – Russell gets a penalty over, 43rd min
Nice play by Glasgow good interaction between backs and forwards, play just outside Ulster 22
Penalty as Ulster come away with the ball after Glasgow were attacking well for a while, interesting no card given, it must have been something quite blatant for the ref to blow so sharply.
